This is what customer service looks like. A patient was having trouble identifying our building and driveway but we knew they were close. Sue Ann made a small sign and stood roadside to guide them in! What a servant heart!

Three things your audiologist wishes everyone knew about hearing health:

1️⃣ Hearing loss often happens slowly. Many people don’t notice changes until communication becomes difficult.

2️⃣ Today’s hearing technology is incredibly advanced. Modern devices are small, smart, and designed to adapt to real-world environments.

3️⃣ Treating hearing loss improves more than hearing. It helps support communication, relationships, and overall quality of life.

Your hearing plays a role in how you connect with the people and world around you.

Taking care of it matters.

19 years ago today we opened our doors as Carolina Hearing Doctors and it’s been my pleasure and honor to work with my coworkers, some for all 17 years, some for the past few years.
i’m thankful we’ve worked together to extend something truly special to our community.
Friday I saw a lady who we first examined in 2009. Since then she’s been tested in a few other places but when it came time to finally treat her hearing loss she has returned to us, “I remembered how you all made me feel, how you reassured me about my prospects”.
Returns 16 years later because of a memorable feeling that we engendered with our special type of care. Awesome!
Thank you to each of our patients who have trusted us with your hearing, your relationships, and your hearing health.
Thank you all!

It’s Tinnitus Awareness Week

Ringing, buzzing, or humming in your ears isn’t “just annoying” — it’s a sign your hearing may need attention.

Tinnitus affects millions of people worldwide and is often linked to hearing loss, noise exposure, and stress. For many, it can interfere with sleep, impact mental health, and reduce overall quality of life.

The good news? You don’t have to live with it alone. A hearing evaluation can help identify the cause and open the door to management options that improve daily life.

If tinnitus is part of your story, this week is a reminder to listen to your ears — and take the next step toward better hearing health. Give us a call at (336) 794-8212.

Did you know? More than 90% of deaf children are born to hearing parents.

This statistic comes from the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), and it highlights just how important early education, support, and resources are for families learning about hearing differences.

For many parents, newborn hearing screening is the first moment they learn their child may be deaf or hard-of-hearing. As NIDCD notes, “Early identification of hearing loss gives a child the best possible chance for healthy development.”

Understanding, communication options, and community support can make an enormous difference in a child’s language development and confidence.

Happy National Winnie the Pooh Day!

Winnie the Pooh reminds us of something simple — and powerful: the importance of truly listening.

Whether it’s a friend sharing their day, a child telling a story, or a loved one saying “I love you,” hearing is how we stay connected to the people who matter most — and how we show up for one another.

Today is a sweet reminder that listening supports emotional wellness, deeper relationships, and meaningful moments we never want to miss.

January is National Self-Care Month

Self-care is more than rest and routines — it’s about caring for every part of your well-being, including your hearing.

Untreated hearing loss is closely linked to mental health challenges, feelings of loneliness, and cognitive decline. When we struggle to hear, we often withdraw from conversations and the connections that keep us engaged and fulfilled.

As we begin a new year, consider making hearing health part of your self-care plan. Prioritizing your hearing supports clearer communication, stronger relationships, and a healthier mind. Come visit us at Carolina Hearing Doctors to have your hearing checked.

Because taking care of yourself means staying connected to the world around you.

Did you know that in the U.S., about 2 to 3 out of every 1,000 children are born with a detectable level of hearing loss in one or both ears?

That might not sound like a lot — but when you consider how many babies are born every year, it adds up to thousands of children who could benefit from early care and support. Early detection is especially important: as the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) notes, “infants who are born deaf or hard-of-hearing have a better chance of learning language if the hearing loss is identified immediately after birth.”

Let’s spread awareness and support hearing checks for newborns. 👶🦻
