Today is National Gardening Day, and it's a perfect reminder that one of the best things we can do for our health doesn't require a gym membership or a prescription. It just takes a little dirt, some sunshine, and a willingness to grow.

A few tips to make gardening easier and safer for older adults:

• Try raised beds or container gardens to avoid excessive bending
• Use trellises or hanging baskets for a low-maintenance vertical setup
• Garden in the morning or late afternoon to avoid peak sun hours
• Keep water and a chair nearby for regular breaks
• Windowsill boxes work beautifully for smaller spaces

You don't need a big backyard. A few pots on a porch or herbs in a kitchen window can bring the same joy and purpose.

We want you to meet the wonderful people behind the care at TBA. 💙 Say hello to Gayle, a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) at our Winston-Salem location.

Gayle has been part of the Touched By Angels family since 2017, and in that time she has shown what it truly means to serve others with dedication, consistency, and a genuinely loving spirit.

One of her team members shared something that says it all:

"The Lord has truly gifted her with a heart of serving. It shows with her sweet spirit and her nature that shines through the care she gives each day," adding that Proverbs 3:15 — "She is more precious than jewels; And nothing you desire compares with her" — makes them think of her.

As a PCA, Gayle assists clients with their daily living activities, helping them maintain their independence and quality of life in the comfort of their own homes. But beyond the responsibilities of her role, it is her heart for people that makes her truly special. She brings warmth and compassion into every home she enters, and the care she gives each day reflects a calling — not just a job.
