I had the joy in meeting Alicia with Think Like A MOM yesterday at the Sugar Mamas Movement vendor event and I want to share her with you! She has some of the most amazing scented shower steamers! But, what really impressed me was her postpartum journals! I think everyone in the postpartum journey should have one! Plus, we like to support local, small businesses and Alicia is a gem!

Make sure when you are hiring your that you know where they stand. My partner and I are both . This means we work for our clients only and are not affiliated with any hospital system. If your hospital does not allow you to have an independent doula in addition to your partner, you need to ask them why.

This OB is welcoming me into this csection. He understands women regard this birth space just as sacred as a vaginal delivery. He does not discriminate against his cesarean patients: they are entitled to the SAME psychological support of their birth teams as vaginal deliveries.

This is the beginning of a new era: To my millennial sisters and the up and coming gen z soon-to-be birthers β€” YOU hold the power β€” YOU choose where you want to birth your babies. YOU choose your words.

There are facilities that open their doors [and more importantly, their hearts] and recognize that the world isn’t starting to change, the world HAS already changed.

It is the day of the woman.
The millennial woman οΏΌis fierce and stubborn and cannot be fear-mongered any longer.
She is equipped with education.
She has doulas, she has midwives, she has therapeutic birth photography.

Millennial women are choosing to play a vocal role during the birth of their babies.

They are no longer choosing the hospitals their insurances are accepted at, nor the 5 star rated ones; they are smart and they caught on, seeing their mothers, friends and neighbors who that choice did not serve. οΏΌ

They are consciously choosing birth facilities that put a woman’s mental health in birth on a high list of priorities. Where a woman is respected.
What other major surgery has people awake, actively participating in their surgery? None because Birth is a sacred process EVEN when it’s a csection surgery.

Millennials are choosing Hospitals that acknowledge women need their birth team in the operating room. Hospitals supporting birth photographers in the operating room, because csection birth is STILL sacred and birth photos are a therapeutic tool for the woman and family to later process.

Millennial birthing families are not naive, they no longer believe they don’t get equal opportunities in the operating room because of hospital policies or sterile fields, they are too smart for this, they know it’s discrimination.

Millennial & gen z families will soon constitute 100% of L&D patients. The world will see these families seeking only facilities that truly support the woman & her birth team.

I had the honor of being a part of my niece’s first birth and postpartum experience, and her husband had to be the most hands-on father with breastfeeding that I’ve ever witnessed. It was such a beautiful thing to witness the bond between them. πŸ’œ -Kristen

Ok, this may trump my birth story with Cora. {for anyone unaware, I spent close to 10 hours doula-ing and then proceeded to have Cora at home 2.5 hrs later} 😁 -Kristen

SPECIAL DELIVERY: As Dr. Amanda Hess was getting into her hospital gown to be induced to give birth, she heard nurses prepping a woman who needed to give birth right away because her baby was in distress. But the woman's OBGYN was not at the hospital yet, so Dr. Hess (an OBGYN herself) put on another gown to cover her backside, threw on boots over her flip-flops and delivered the baby -- then her own: http://www.fox13news.com/health/271188356-story
