WHEN: 4:18 am on April 12, 2026
WHERE: 2805 Indiana Avenue
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT:
On Sunday April 12, 2026, Winston-Salem Police Department (WSPD) officers responded to a report of a shooting at 2805 Indiana Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located an individual, later identified as Calvin Samuel Johnson, who was suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the scene and transported Mr. Johnson to a local medical facility where he succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased.

INCIDENT ALERT: Shooting in the 2700 Block of Piedmont Circle
The Winston-Salem Police Department is investigating a shooting which occurred in the 2700 block of Piedmont Circle.

WHERE: 2700 Block of Piedmont Circle

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT:
The Winston-Salem Police Department responded to a fight in progress involving a large crowd of people in the 2700 block of Piedmont Circle. During the fight, shots were fired and two adult males received gunshot wounds. They were both transported to a local hospital by personal vehicles and are both being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Their names are being withheld at this time. This incident is under investigation.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF INCDENT: On 04/02/22026 at 10:43 PM, WSPD officers responded to the 400 block of Jonestown Rd. on an unknown trouble call. Officers located the victim who reported being robbed and shot by 3 juveniles while walking in the 200 block of Jonestown Rd. The victim was transported to a local hospital and admitted for treatment. Investigation is ongoing.

At approximately 0720 this morning, 3 subjects entered the Tappers Sweepstakes located at 985 Peters Creek Parkway armed with handguns. They held the staff at gunpoint and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the business. The subjects left in a new model silver 4 door sedan.

VICTIM: Ricardo Lamont Edwards, a 46-year-old male
WHEN: Friday, February 20, 2026, at 5:33am
WHERE: 4200 block of Brownsboro Road
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT:
On Friday, February 20, at approximately 5:33 a.m., WSPD officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 4200 block of Brownsboro Road. Upon arrival, officers found Ricardo Lamont Edwards suffering from a gunshot wound. EMS personnel responded to the scene. Despite lifesaving efforts, Mr. Edwards succumbed to his injuries.
The circumstances that led to the death of Mr. Edwards are currently being investigated. The WSPD Criminal Investigations Division (CID) continues to lead the investigation.

The Winston-Salem Police Department is currently investigating the Discharging of a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling. Ms. Temeshia Brown advised she and the additional occupants were inside when an unknown suspect(s) shot into the residence. Unoccupied vehicles associated with the residence were also struck by gunfire. No injuries were reported. The investigation remains ongoing.

VICTIM 2: Sorensen Reyes-Olmedo, a 30-year-old male

WHERE: 2332 N. Cherry Street, Winston-Salem
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT:
On December 27, 2025, at approximately 10:58 p.m., officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department (WSPD) responded to a reported shooting at 2332 N. Cherry Street. Upon arrival, officers located two victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Both victims were transported by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to a local medical facility. Despite life-saving efforts, Antoni Rodriguez-Lopez succumbed to his injuries. Sorensen Reyes-Olmedo is currently listed in stable condition. The WSPD Criminal Investigations Division (CID) responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers began life saving measures and the victim was transported by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to a local medical facility. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim succumbed to the injury.

On November 3, 2025, at approximately 3am, officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department (WSPD) responded to a reported shooting at 1930 Bertha Street. Upon arrival, officers located Cameron Demon Napper, Jr., a 19-year-old male, suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded, and despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Napper was pronounced deceased at the scene. The WSPD Criminal Investigations Division (CID) responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation. The circumstances around the homicide are still being investigated.
