Thanksgiving may be just around the corner, but we’re already tuning up for something merry and bright! The Sharps & Flats Show Choir is rehearsing multiple times a week to bring us “Holidays on TV—A Musical Journey through the Decades.”

The show features songs that have made watching and rewatching Christmas specials from the 1950’s-2000s an annual tradition.

Here's a sneak peak!

This season of gratitude reminds us of the power of connection.

Camille Smith and Nancy Dennis first met as Salem College students in the 1950s. Life took them on incredible journeys—graduate school, careers, family, even adventures abroad.

Fast forward to 2024: a chance meeting in the Arbor Acres Therapy Clinic erased decades in an instant.Today, they’re inseparable friends once again.

Before the holiday hustle begins, Fitness Coordinator Heidi Day offered the chance for residents to pause for a moment of gratitude and calm.

Today’s floating relaxation sound bath was all about thankfulness, appreciation, and embracing the art of self-care. Because no matter the season, self-care is always in style.

In celebration of our sponsorship of the Winston-Salem Symphony, residents enjoyed an intimate Fireside Chat today with Music Director Michelle Merrill and acclaimed cellist Christine Lamprea.

Christine shared her inspiring musical journey, told the story of how her newest cello “found” her, and even treated us to a live performance!

It was a wonderful time of conversation, connection, and beautiful music—plus a sneak peek at this weekend’s concert program: Mozart's Magic Flute Overture, Ravel's Mother Goose Suite, and Tan Dun's the Crouching Tiger Cello Concerto.

Thank you, Michelle and Winston-Salem Symphony musicians, for bringing such brilliance and joy to our community!

Today, we honor the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

Your courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication have helped shape the freedoms we cherish every day. From all of us at Arbor Acres—thank you for your service.

A special thank you to cadets of Oak Ridge Military Academy for the Presentation of Colors during our Veterans Day luncheon, held in honor of the more than 70 residents who served our country.

Your heartfelt gesture—bringing handwritten notes of gratitude and stars from American flags that no longer fly as a gesture of remembrance—made this day even more meaningful for our veterans.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

What do you get when you mix croquet mallets, curious minds, and a dash of Wonderland? A very merry unbirthday party at Arbor Acres!

Today, our Croquet Club welcomed the Lewis Carroll Society of North America as part of their 100th meeting during the Fall Conference 2025 in Winston-Salem.

Guests tried their hand at golf croquet—no hedgehogs or flamingos required! Big thanks to Charlie Lovett (member of the Lewis Carroll Society) and Chan & Winborne Chandler for making this whimsical experience possible and to Arbor Acres' croquet members who helped introduce the game to first-time players. Even Alice made an appearance!

Maestro Art Bloom—director of the Sharps & Flats Show Choir—was surprised and honored for his extraordinary work and the joy he brings to our community.

In recognition of his dedication and volunteerism, Art received a historic 1918 baton from England and a beautifully handcrafted baton stand made by our talented resident woodworkers.

Thank you, Art, for your passion, leadership, and the music that lifts our spirits. You make Arbor Acres sing!
