🥟✨ We welcomed the Lunar New Year with a delicious and meaningful tradition!

Chef Tom Wong joined us for a live demonstration of jiaozi — traditional New Year dumplings that symbolize prosperity and good fortune. Residents enjoyed watching him prepare these classic dumplings while learning about the techniques and cultural significance behind them.

It was a wonderful celebration of culture, community, and cuisine — filled with good food, great company, and wishes for a sweet and prosperous year ahead. 🧧🎉

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming back Dr. Andrew Gurstelle to Salemtowne for an energetic and enlightening presentation.

Dr. Gurstelle, from the Lam Museum of Anthropology, Wake Forest University, explored the deep historical connections between Asia and Africa by tracing the journey of Changsha ware and cowrie shells across the Indian Ocean.

He even brought fascinating artifacts from the museum’s collection, giving residents the unique opportunity to experience history up close and engage more deeply with the story.

For more than 50 years, they’ve been incredible supporters of Salemtowne.

Today, they continued their annual tradition by hosting a Valentine's Social for our residents.

This talented group of Salemtowne crocheters and knitters truly has a heart for giving back! 💙🧶

In 2025, these dedicated ladies created more than 700 handmade items that were donated to organizations across our community and throughout North Carolina.

And they’re not done yet! They’re currently making 125 scarves for Assisted Living and Babcock Health Care Center residents as Christmas gifts. 🎄🧣

Thank you for sharing your time and talent in such a meaningful way.
