According to the National Eye Institute, anyone can get glaucoma.
However some people are at higher risk, including people who:
▪️Are over age 60
▪️Are Black/African American and over age 40
▪️Are Asian American
▪️Are Hispanic/Latino
▪️Have a family history of glaucoma

January is Glaucoma Awareness Month! Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness in the United States. Since this disease has no noticeable symptoms in it’s early stages, people oftentimes don’t realize they are being affected until their vision has already been severely deteriorated. The best way to prevent vision loss from glaucoma is to detect it early by getting routine eye-exams by an ophthalmologist.
