In commemoration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Black History Month, we pay tribute to these three women who endured unimaginable hardship as slaves and subjects of gynecological experimentation.
Betsey, Lucy, and Anarcha - three Black women whose resilience and sacrifice have significantly influenced modern gynecology. Their stories, nearly lost to history, are remembered and honored, particularly during this Black History Month. At Winter Haven OB/GYN, we continue their legacy through care that embodies compassion, equity, and respect for all women.
