WeCare of Central Florida is on a vital mission to create equitable access to healthcare services by offering FREE, on-demand transportation through Uber Health, breaking down transportation barriers for uninsured patients.

Our goal is to uplift health outcomes by ensuring the right ride at the right time, fostering timely medical appointments, continuity of care, and patient-centered navigation throughout the healthcare system.

Since its inception in 2019, Project Ride to Health has been a beacon of hope, increasing access to healthcare through free on-demand transportation via Uber Health to any healthcare appointment in Polk County. Uninsured Polk County residents benefit from FREE rides to and from their health and dental appointments, prescription pickups, and mental health or addiction counseling, among many other essential health services.

Last year, through Project Ride to Health, over 15,000 one-way rides were provided to more than 460 uninsured Polk County residents. This impactful initiative means that at least 7,500 healthcare appointments have been kept this year, empowering lives and overcoming transportation barriers.

Are you a Polk County resident? Need a ride to your doctor's appointments? Apply today!

In 2022, WeCare of Central Florida recognized a growing need for free access to durable medical equipment.

In response, Project Helpful Hearts was created to collect new and gently used durable medical equipment (DME) to uplift those facing mobility challenges due to physical disabilities, illnesses, or injuries.

Through their efforts, Project Helpful Hearts has provided essential resources like hospital beds, electric scooters, and wheelchairs to uninsured residents of Polk County, bringing hope and mobility to those in need.
