We gathered recently at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland to participate in the 2025 Polk Heart Walk, held by the American Heart Association. The top walker of the event was Glynda, who raised over $7,000. WHH President Tom Garthwaite and WHH Director of Cardiovascular Services Casey Ford were also among the top five walkers. All told, BayCare raised over $28,000 for the event that helps raise awareness of heart health. Thanks to all who participated in some creative fundraising efforts, and who joined for the walk!

Not everyone likes talking about the bladder and the bowels, but our rehab team are experts at it! The pelvic floor is a group of muscles stretching from the tailbone to the p***c bone. These muscles support all the organs of the pelvis. Dysfunction in this area is the leading cause of urinary and bowel incontinence, sexual dysfunction, constipation and pain. A therapist can evaluate your pelvic floor and determine the appropriate course of treatment for your problem (and the answer isn’t just Kegels). Our team can train you in the correct techniques to either relax and lengthen or strengthen your pelvic floor muscles to address your incontinence or pelvic pain. Your physician can provide a prescription for an evaluation. Call the Winter Haven Hospital Outpatient Rehabilitation services for more information, at (863)292-4061.

Congratulations to our Progressive Care Unit (PCU) for their recent Team DAISY Award! The DAISY Award recognizes extraordinary nurses everywhere who make an enormous difference in the lives of their patients. In this case, the team was recognized for the care they provided to a declining patient who wanted to celebrate her 101st birthday in style before her passing. The team decorated her room and also dressed in a 1920s theme. The patient was able to celebrate her birthday alongside her daughters, and the team was recognized for maintaining the patient's dignity and fulfilling her wishes. Thanks, PCU team!
