Celebrating a Visionary Career: Dr. Frank Fischer Jr.’s Retirement
After more than 50 years of dedicated service in ophthalmology, Dr. Frank Fischer Jr. is retiring. His remarkable journey reminds us all what it means to combine excellence, compassion, and commitment.
Dr. Fischer’s impressive credentials speak volumes: he earned his B.S. with honors from the University of Notre Dame, his M.D. from the University of Florida, interned at Western Reserve–University Hospitals of Cleveland, and completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Florida. He also served as a flight surgeon with the U.S. Navy.

Perhaps his greatest legacy, though, is the impact he made on patients. At Advanced Eyecare Associates (a part of Ascend Vision), his leadership set the standard for personalized, compassionate eye care across our locations. His presence will be deeply missed by colleagues and patients alike.
As he embarks on this new chapter, we wish Dr. Fischer rest, joy, reflection—and every new adventure he’s been putting off. In retirement, may he see sunsets in perfect focus, spend time with loved ones, travel, and pursue passions long deferred.
We will forever be grateful for Dr. Fischer’s service, mentorship, and example.
Thank you, Dr. Fischer.
