Welcoming baby C**ton! ✨

His mama worked so hard to bring him into the world, first through the journey to conceive, and then in birthing him at home, just the way she had envisioned. She labored with strength and presence, bringing him earthside in her own bed, surrounded by love.

After the birth, complications arose with a retained placenta. She had to be transferred to the hospital and lost a significant amount of blood. It was not the postpartum she had imagined, but her resilience through it all was nothing short of awe-inspiring.

I am so grateful she is now safe, healing, and adjusting to life as a mother of two. Witnessing her power and strength throughout this entire experience and breastfeeding has been a true honor.

Creating a birth plan or outlining birth preferences is an empowering way for expectant parents to communicate their hopes, values, and priorities for labor and birth. Whether it’s planning for an unmedicated birth, opting for an epidural, or choosing a scheduled cesarean, what’s most important is having a care team that respects and supports those choices. Birth is unpredictable, and preferences may shift in the moment; but feeling heard, informed, and supported throughout the process can make all the difference. I have witnessed the raw, unshakable power within every birthing person, even when they doubt themselves, even when they say they can’t do it anymore.
Birth is a journey that demands everything, stripping us down to our core and calling us to find strength we never knew we had. In those moments, when exhaustion and fear whisper that it’s too much, those of us holding this sacred space remind you that you can and will do this. You are never alone.

Birth asks us to reach further than we ever imagined possible, to step beyond our threshold and humbly surrender to the unknown. And from that surrender comes the possibility of connecting with our truest power. This power is not reserved for a select few. It exists within every birthing person. Birth has a way of surprising us in the most beautiful ways! This doula baby made her debut earlier and faster than anyone expected, and her mama absolutely rocked her hands-off birth!
When we arrived at the hospital, she was just 1 cm dilated. After an hour of walking and squatting through every single contraction, she quickly progressed to 6 cm, and only 5 hours later, she was holding her sweet firstborn in her arms.
With trust in her body and her support team, mama had the unmedicated birth she hoped for 🙌🏽
