Breathe. Pause. Digest. Metabolize. Build. Repair. Convert. Expel. Regulate. Regenerate.
We’re constantly receiving information, and we’re made up of innate systems that know what to do, and what not to do, with said information. It works well while it works, but even the smallest change of elements, gone unnoticed, can throw everything off. One by one, our systems fail.
Stress is the number one, underrated, disrupter. We talk about it but it seems too hard to do anything about it. More stressful, even. Our body can metabolize and break down some of it but not the amount we throw at it in this modern age. We become rushed and inundated. Grabbing a quick “fix” when really it’s just delay for a later collapse. Rust takes over where the oil dries up. Well ordered systems come to a hault.
The first law of motion, inertia, shows us that an object at rest wants to stay at rest, while an object in motion wants to stay in motion. What we maintain will maintain. In the same way our vehicles function by gasoline and oil, our bodies need specific tools to thrive.
Tools are necessary and made to be helpful. It’s important to take inventory of which ones we reach for. Which ones are rusty or broken? Are there any just taking up space? Which ones add value?
We can “Marie Kondo” our health and ask “Does this bring me joy?” And I add to ask, “Does this bring me life?”
I will continue advocating for our individual and collective return to autonomy. It’s one of the many reasons I utilize massage therapy as a tool. Strip away some of our modern “go-to’s” and we still remain. Us. Humans. With our hands, our unique experience, and our ability to steward life.
We’re here to live while the living is here, my friends. Keep couraging and asking questions.
I’m happy to partner and help along the way.
