Yes dear friend you heard that correctly your pediatrician isn’t showing you how to feed your baby. They aren’t observing your baby feeding. So how do you know if you’re truly feeding your baby correctly? Some would assume that bottle feeding is easy, you just put it in their mouths. Here’s some of what I’m looking for when observing a bottle feeding:
*Babies positioning sitting up, laying down
*Does baby open wide for bottle or does care giver just place ni**le in mouth
*How far is the ni**le placed in babies mouth?
*Is baby doing the work or is gravity?
*Does the parent have to move the bottle around to keep baby sucking?
*Is milk leaking from the bottle?
*Is baby gulping or can clicking be heard?
*Is baby swallowing lots or air or working really hard?
*How long does it take baby to finish a bottle?
