🐶 Finn Says: Are your eyes always dry, irritated, or blurry?

Using multiple drops a day but still not getting relief? You may need a Dry Eye Workup.

Dry eye isn’t the same for everyone. There are many different causes, which is why proper testing matters.

At our office we run specialized tests to determine your specific type of dry eye so we can treat the root cause—not just the symptoms.

One common cause is Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD). These tiny glands in your eyelids produce the oil layer of your tears, which helps keep your eyes comfortable and prevents tears from evaporating too quickly.

When these glands stop working or begin to disappear, patients can experience burning, irritation, fluctuating vision, and severe dryness.

Established in 2018, Winter Park Vision Specialists is a collaboration between Dr. James Podschun and Dr. Marguerite Ball-Thomas, who have been serving Winter Park and the surrounding area for over 50 years combined. We provide comprehensive vision care, diagnosis & treatment of most ocular diseases, co-management for vision issues due to other ailments, and emergency eye care. We also have a full service optical boutique with an extensive selection of designer eye wear for the entire family, as well as an onsite optical lab.

Our Doctors of Optometry

Dr. Marguerite Ball-Thomas grew up in Central Florida and has been in private practice for over 24 years in Winter Park. Prior to private practice, Dr. Ball-Thomas was a staff optometrist at the world-renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. She specializes in all aspects of eye care including the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease, contact lenses, and comprehensive family eye care for patients of all ages.
