Very often, when clients come in to see counselor Patrick Crews, they are confused ... because the depression that they are feeling inside hides itself as other emotions.

"At any given time, there is probably about seven percent of the U.S. population that is experiencing depression," Patrick said. "Depression is very common. Most people at some time in their lives are going to experience some level of depression. When it comes to the point where it is interfering with your goals, interfering with your relationships, it should be dealt with.

"But depression on any level is suffering. And if we have a choice to reduce suffering, that's the most important thing we can do for ourselves, and the people in our life that we love."
