Generous doesn't always have to with the gifting of material objects, it can be a simple gesture or phrase that makes someone feel good and supported. πŸ’›

When someone hears those words it can lead them down brighter paths and the great thing is, it costs you nothing. 🌻

Make someone feel good today.

What matters most to you? Take a breathe and think about how you spend your time and if it aligns with your true values.

Time is so valuable and should be spent wisely, but how can you do this? ⏳

Be present in the NOW and appreciate what is around you. πŸ’

"You will always miss what you're not trained to see." πŸ”Ž

If we read, study, learn from others and build skills then we are able to supply ourselves with tools. With these tools we can spot problems before they become too hard for us to handle. 🧰

Equip yourself right in order to face life's challenges.

⏰ Upcoming Event!

It feels like the pace of AI is growing beyond our control and now concerns are being raised about how it's starting to replace mental health care for the next generation. The numbers show the risks that it's creating for young kids and teens - now is the time to stay informed and learn how we can combat this issue.

Come join us and Florida Mental Health Counselors Association (FMHCA) on January 23rd for a conversation on the risks of chatbots and how they are replacing therapists and parents. Dwight will be sharing how we can work through this problem and provide the necessary support to those around us and help them feel heard so they don't feel like a robot is their only option.

How do YOU react to distraction? Do you feel in or out of control when it comes to distractions?

Life will always throw things at you that you are unexpected which can be difficult to deal with but when you realize that you are in control, it can be much easier to handle whatever may come your way.

πŸ›οΈ Sleep is an essential part of our health, both mental and physical. It provides us with the energy to think clearly and move properly.

Sleep is something that people struggle to prioritize. Sometimes it's other responsibilities that take place of it or it's simply bad habits before bed time like scrolling on your phone. πŸ“±

There are ways to manage it though and that's with routine. Taking the time to do what is most important for our overall functioning makes the other parts of life easier.

Unplug before bed and make time to rest. 😴

Mental Health Toolbox: Animal Therapy πŸ•

Spending time with animals can bring us a lot of comfort. If you're unable to adopt an animal or find an animal therapy program in your area try volunteering at a local shelter or offer to take care of your neighbor's pets.

Why it helps?: When we interact with animals it actually releases mood-boosting hormones and help to reduce stress hormones. It is also know to decrease feelings of loneliness and provide us with non-judgmental comfort leading to things such as reduced anxiety, better social skills, and increased self-esteem. πŸ₯°

⏰ Upcoming Event!

AI is growing fast and becoming a big part of our lives. Now we are seeing people become reliant on it for support and connection, but is this safe?

Depending on AI instead of a professional can do more harm than good. While it might feel like the bot understands what we are sharing it's missing the most essential piece of connection: real presence.

Join Dwight and Florida Mental Health Counselors Association (FMHCA) on January 23rd for a conversation on these risks of chatbots that are replacing therapists and parents. He'll be sharing how we can work through this problem and provide the necessary support to those around us and help them feel heard.

The usual routine of the new year is to set goals for yourself, but most of the time that doesn't end up working out then we ask ourselves why? We begin to feel guilty about not following through, but what needs to change in order for us to accomplish what we want?

Try doing it with someone else and changing the "I" to "We." Setting goals with someone else helps you to keep each other accountable and provides you with a support system to make things easier.
