Keeping our Community Life team professionals updated on the latest scientific and medical advancements on Alzheimer's and dementia related disease's is an important factor in providing excelent care and programing. In addition to the required, in-house, Watermark training modules, we also participate in, in-person group classes, such as lectures and workshops. Today we had the opportunity to listen to doctors, nurses and other experts in the field educate about the different types of dementias. Sadly, it was discussed that the growing number of Americas who are being diagnosed are at a much earlier age. During the lunch hour, a panel of Retirement Community Directors talked about the top five most beneficial brain boosting foods. Beginning in February we will be incorporating more of the brain boosting foods into all of our Watermark University, "Culinary Creation" programs. Caroline, who leads activity programs in our Garden (Memory Care) neighborhood accompanied Kim, Director of Community Life, both learned more about a new Governemtnt program called Guide, a free program to those who have been diagnosed with dementia. To learn more about the program and find out if your family member qualifies, we encourage you to attend our first "Family Education" event on February 10 at 6:00 pm An invitation about the Guide program and Veteran benifits through this program will be sent via e-mail on Monday, January 26. All others are also welcome, please call 407-702-1300 to RSVP
