What an awesome Thanksgiving celebration last night at the LIFE chapter that meets at First Missionary Baptist Church in Lagrange, North Carolina. It was a blessing to be present and to share with the group about the grace and goodness of God in my own life. Transformation is possible and available through faith in Christ. The world says once an addict always an addict, but God says you can become a new creation and old things are passed away. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

Would you say a prayer for Anthony, one of our incarcerated life ministry students?

Ah! The story of Joseph... There is so much that can be learned from that story. Joseph certainly gave us a great example, didn't he? An amazing point that you brought out is that we have to learn to forgive ourselves. Sometimes, that is very hard. It is really easy to expect perfection from ourselves. But being human, we often fall short of perfection. Thank you for another wonderful lesson.
You brought out that you had a speech impediment. Again, I can relate. I remember getting to the point that I did some self-talk. I told myself that I could overcome it if I would just slow down. And guess what. It worked. Sometimes, we need to listen to ourselves as well as to others. Thanks for all you do, Brother.

DID YOU KNOW THAT LIFE IS INSIDE?

In August 2017, Judson College launched its first men’s cohort and began offering classes on-site at Nash Correctional Institution. The Field Minister Program was designed as a pastoral and counseling training ground specifically for incarcerated men to serve. Although the Program's curriculum is both distinctly and decisively grounded in the Christian worldview, application is open to incarcerated people of all faiths.

Graduates of the program are employed by the State of North Carolina and deployed in teams to other prisons throughout the state to do the work of a Field Minister.

I am thankful to be serving as a professor in this program at Nash. I have had the honor to teach a class this semester of 12 inmates. Some of these are serving life sentences for murder. We meet together in a classroom setting. The class I am teaching this semester is counseling addiction and trauma. These men are placing their faith in Christ, seeking truth, and desiring to be used by God inside our prisons. LIFE Ministries has a video curriculum on their tablets. Yes, LIFE is inside our prison walls as I personally enter through the doors every Wednesday and teach biblical truth. LIFE is inside Nash Correctional and other prisons across our country through our video curriculum on their tablets.
