United Emergency Medical Response

United Emergency Medical Response United Emergency Medical Response, a full service 911 and transfer service providing all levels of prehospital care from basic to Critical Care Paramedic.

United Emergency Medical Response is a Paramedic Level Ambulance service located in Wisconsin Rapids WI. We proudly serve as the exclusive 911 ambulance provider for the townships of Grand Rapids, Grant, Sigel, Seneca, Town of Rudolph and Village of Rudolph. In addition to 911 we also offer interfacility Critical Care Paramedic ambulance transport and standby services for your special events. Orig

inally founded as Higgins Ambulance Service in 1943, United Emergency Medical Response has strived to constantly provide top quality patient care through aggressive protocols, skills competency testing and monitoring, in-house quality assurance reviews of all runs, and in-house training that is conducted in cooperation with our Medical Director, Dr. Keith Wesley. We have staff members who are instructors for all mandatory and optional certifications that we carry-CPR, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, AMLS, and state certified EMS Instructors who oversee licensing recertification training. We are also in the process of developing a curriculum to provide in-house Critical Care Paramedic recertification training for our staff. Our scope of care ranges all the way from EMT-Basic up to Critical Care Paramedic. All of our duty officers who answer your call have received paramedic training at minimum, and are able to ask you questions about what your ambulance needs are to make sure that you will be transported by an appropriately licensed crew. We strictly follow statutes and protocols related to critical care transport and all other EMS license levels, so you can rest assured that the ambulance that’s transporting you will meet your specific needs. Remember-Wisconsin is a β€œHome Rule” state. This means that you can choose who you want to transport you. By calling 911 you will most likely get the ambulance service contracted to your area-even if you request another service. If you choose to call United Emergency Medical Response directly, you will be transported by professionals who the best in the business at what they do-and you will be treated with the respect and dignity that you deserve.

Chris Krohn donated four Littmann Core Digital stethoscopes to United Ambulance. Chris is a decorated multi-tour Iraq Army veteran and IT manager for Den-Col Inc in Denver, CO. He is also family to one of our UEMR employees.

On behalf of all United Ambulance personnel - THANK YOU!

Littman Core Digital Stethoscopes amplify lung and heart sounds up to 45 times, and also cancel out ambient noise. The electronic stethoscope transmits telemetry data via bluetooth to the EMT/Paramedic's device, displaying respiratory auscultation sound data.

When in the back of a moving ambulance or in the middle of loud emergency scenes, it is often hard to hear lung and heart sounds, which are a key component in assessing a patient's current health status.

Again, thank you Chris for your very generous gift to our crew!

Yesterday at our monthly training, we reviewed point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) skills!

POCUS is a medical imaging technique that uses sound waves to create images of the inside of the body, which are then displayed on a phone or tablet screen. We can now perform this at the patients bedside, pre-hospitally.

In the EMS field currently, we are using POCUS to identify patients thought to be in cardiac arrest but actually in profound shock, to ensure proper treatment. We also can ensure cardiac standstill when discontinuing resuscitation efforts, and as a tool to identify certain respiratory complications, such as pneumothorax (collapsed lung).

This valuable diagnostic tool will become even more integral to pre-hospital care in the coming years πŸš‘
