Obituary for Grand Rapids Lions Charter member.
Theodore “Ted” G. Hagedorn Jr., age 85, of Wisconsin Rapids passed away at home on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Kevin Ader will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services on Sunday at the funeral home.
Ted was born July 12, 1940 in Merrill, WI to Theodore and Agnes (Reinke) Hagedorn Sr. He graduated from Merrill High School in 1960. He served his country in the Army National Guard.
Ted married Mary Thomaschefsky on August 27, 1966 at St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ in Merrill. They were blessed with three daughters: Debbie, Wendy and Kelly.
Ted worked at Consolidated Papers Inc., Biron Division for 36 years, retiring in 2002.
A lover of nature, Ted spent countless hours tending to his garden, feeding the birds, and fishing. He was a past member of the Consolidated Musky Club and an avid snowmobiling enthusiast, serving as a charter member of the Kellner Knights Snowmobile Club. Ted's love for adventure was also demonstrated in his enjoyment of classic cars and his travels across the country in his cherished 1978 Chevy conversion van.
In addition to his outdoor pursuits, Ted was a man of service and a charter member of the Grand Rapids Lions Club where he served as bar manager, membership chairman, and was very involved in club projects like Toys for Tots. His dedication and commitment to the club were recognized when he was awarded the Melvin Jones Award. Ted also found joy in woodworking and was a CB radio operator, always keeping his hands and mind engaged.
Ted is survived by his loving wife, Mary; three daughters: Debbie Hagedorn of Wisconsin Rapids, Wendy (Dan Leemon) Hagedorn of Driggs, Idaho, and Kelly (Jason) Stroik of Stevens Point; four grandchildren: Caroline Narel, Theo Narel, Atticus Stroik, and Gareth Stroik; sister, Beverly (Matt) Callahan of South Venice, FL; sister-in-law, Sharon Hagedorn of Plover; and Debbie's former spouse Tom Narel of Green Bay, who remained a close friend. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Eugene Hagedorn.
Memorials may be designated to the Grand Rapids Lions Club.
