Whew! Fire Prevention week is complete! 5 solid days of morning and afternoon sessions!
This week we were at:

Grant Elementary K, 1st and 2nd grades
Woodside 4K
Pitsch Early Learning 4K
Renaissance Assisted Living

A special thank you to our own Captain Ski, he is the heartbeat of our Fire Prevention program! His passion for fire safety is unmatched! He really knows how to reach those kids!

And of course thanks to the rest of the members current and retired, who helped out this week!

Chief Minor is an amazing asset not only to Pittsville and Wood County, but this whole region!!!

A little over thirteen years ago, a fire chief asked my father-in-law if he knew where to find someone who could teach vehicle extrication. Dan said "he knew a guy".

The class was presented and a lasting impact was made that has continued to grow and spread. Chief's ability to bring firefighters and organizations together is second to absolutely none (such as pictured from this recent 1403 training burn). While those around him pull their own weight, my impression is that they would follow him anywhere.

These thirteen years later, I am still blessed to call that Chief a colleague in the fire service, a tremendous mentor, and friend.

Why bring it up? Because our mentors need to know their impact.

Our Annual Sports Raffle drawing is tonight at 6pm at The Pour House, stop on down! We still have tickets left if you're interested and we will be selling up to the time of the drawing!

We will attempt to livestream in on this platform. Last year Facebook put a delay on it for their AI to screen it for content. So, if it's not live at 6, keep checking back and it should be on sometime after that.

Thank to John Fawley, Captain Ski, & Jake Bielmeier and Lacey Peck (not pictured) for all their help at the Wisconsin State Fire and EMS Memorial today. Departments from all over the state take turns taking a week to perform the maintenance tasks needed to keep the park looking good!
