What’s your revision decision? 🤔

A 5-month post-op patient presents with persistent pain and functional limitations following a minimally invasive medial naviculocuneiform (NC) joint arthrodesis using 2 metal screws.

Case Background: This patient was previously treated for a medial column issue with NC arthrodesis but now exhibits pain with passive NC motion and weightbearing, which is contributing to an inability to perform activities of daily living.
Imaging (X-ray + CT) confirmed nonunion at the NC joint. NC joint arthrodesis is notoriously difficult—even when performed in isolation—due to its high mechanical demands. Nonunion rates in the literature range from 0% to over 24%.

Scarred from the experience with metal implants, the patient strongly believed the prior hardware contributed to the failed fusion and wants to try something more natural.
