Good examples here of the differences of approach for a left handed vs right handed RS.

Left handed hitter will start more inside the court and cut in, while right handed hitters tend to stay more along the sideline.

This allows for greater range for going inside to get a ball or to stay out and hit at the pin, depending on the set.

Just an update on Victor since so many of you liked the last post.

Victor is now able to get up and down from his low couch many times without assistance. In the beginning, he was unable to get up without assistance from someone or something to hold onto, and would be winded from the experience.

Now, he is confidently moving around and able to take care of himself much more effectively. As a MD and a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical, he is not a fan of being babysat, as you can imagine.

Serving machine reps before practice.

Love it for the reps and control, hate it for the lack of being able to read the server.

Nothings perfect tho, so for individual reps, serve machine is great.

Upper body mobility day for Tank. We do a good bit of rotation on the regular so I left it out for today’s focus, so don’t come at me for that.

Defensive minded warmup before individual practice.

Tennis balls are under utilized as athletic implements.

1. Typically they would just tap the ball and keep it going, but these balls were dead so they were trying to bounce it on the 10 foot line.

2. Chase the ball once they see it, don’t let it bounce more than once.

3. Reach with the opposite hands off the wall. Helps with reaching both hands to the ball. If your opposite hand is used to moving to the ball, it makes it easier to react with platform, rather than one armed stabs. Would love them to catch underhand but it was their first time.

4. Rhythm exercise with hand eye coordination. Rhythm is an under appreciated part of athleticism and passing. Get into rhythm. Shoutout

Hot Take:

This is a more effective dive move than the dolphin dive.

It has a longer reach, is less taxing on the body, and generally gets the ball higher 🤷🏻‍♂️

My gyms had these bags for a while and this is my first time using them. Kinda a fan now.

Cossack squats are a super sexy way to build single leg strength while addressing other factors such as mobility and spinal rotation, especially for lateral athletes such as for volleyball or basketball.

Adding a twist like you see above and you can start to interact some highly beneficial slings.
