At the Main Street Annual Community Update, not one, but TWO animal-themed Trackside Veterinary Clinic cakes brought several hundred dollars of donated money to Woodbine Main Street during the dessert auction. We want to recognize the amazing job Mr. Brian Carter did when he baked and decorated these cakes for our clinic. He is one extremely talented mail man!

If you see a Harrison County Humane Society volunteer or donor this month, please thank them for all they do. This spring and summer, we will be teaming up with the humane society, local law enforcement, and residents to identify community cats who need preventative health care. We call these “TNRs” (Trap, Neuter, Release). Community cats—basically large groups of strays that hang around town—are inevitable no matter what, but when they are humanely caught, brought in for spay/neuter, vaccinations, and parasite control when needed, and then re-released back where they were found, it helps maintain a healthier population that is stable and at a manageable number. This means healthier people, too, by helping control spread of dangerous diseases like rabies and parasites. Yesterday we treated about 20 community cats, and a separate small group of adoptable kittens that were being housed at the humane society.

It’s hard to believe how far we’ve come since we first started developing this idea. Below is a picture of one of the initial branding sketches, side by side with the official logo for our pet services. Our hope is that we continue to progress into an amazing resource for all of you and your animals! In case you drive by the clinic this weekend, don’t fret…the other half of our logo sign is….fashionably late. 😆

It was x-ray and in-house diagnostic lab training marathon today! I thought I’d celebrate everything the crew learned today with a fun cartoon of me, Jess, Mikenna, and Madyson’s cat Milo. 🐈

It was all about surgery Tuesday morning at orientation. We sorted and reviewed instruments, learned drape folding and pack wrapping techniques, and got hands on the autoclave steam sterilization machine. This group learns quickly! I’m going to have to hustle to keep up with them!

I can’t wait for you to meet our team!

We joined together this week for the first time to start our core employee orientation training. These individuals are brilliant, motivated, supportive, and have been patient with us as we push to tie up loose ends. Most importantly, they are passionate about animals and learning and providing excellent service and veterinary care. Their energy is tangible and I love how many creative ideas they’re bringing to the table.

We will spend the upcoming week preparing for our opening, presenting our clinic policies, learning equipment, reviewing veterinary medical concepts, and doing some fun and positive team building exercises. These are the people who will help train additional staff as we grow. I’m so grateful that they’re finally here to help us. 💕
