Frank Comando

The almighty God called Frank R. Comando to heaven where he will forever shine as a star looking down at his family and friends. Frank crossed over peacefully to his new life, surrounded by his family on October 9, 2025 at WMC Health Alliance Hospital in Kingston, NY.

Born in Brooklyn, NY on October 26, 1940 to Dorothy (Whitehead) and Joseph Comando, Frank had a full and exciting life. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He spent as much time as he could with them –often saying, it was never enough time.

Those who knew Frank knew he was quite ‘the character’ who always had a story or word of advice. He would often share his philosophical thoughts, comments and recommendations of his favorite movies. Some of his stories about his own life and experiences sounded unbelievable – but were all true!

Frank was predeceased by his father and mother, his infant daughter, Melissa; his sisters, Carol Comando Giordano and Patty Comando; his niece, Filomena Giordano Gaubatz; his grandson Michael Entenmann; his great-nephew, Eric Gaubatz, Jr.; sister-in-law, Elise Hornbeck; brother-in-law, Raymond Hornbeck.

Frank is survived by his wife, Linda Greenrose Comando; his children: Laura Entenmann (Scott), Eugene Buley (Glenda) – Janna Walter (Daniel), Thorn Winter (Maureen) and Joseph Comando (Brianna). His grandchildren: Daniel Entenmann, Jr., Catelyn Entenmann Garcia Talè, Joshua Entenmann – Brianna Worden, Robert Worden, Brandon Worden, River Winter, Jayce Walter, Avilyn Winter, Tessa Winter, Aurora Comando and Rowan Comando. Great grandchildren Ally, Hayden G., Daniel and Lily, Michael, Hayden E., Dean, Adela, and Mariano; his sisters, Dell and Candy; and many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Life for Frank and Linda began in Sundown. They spent years in Grahamsville while raising their five children, and eventually moving back to Sundown, their favorite place on earth where they spent their final days together.

Frank was a master electrician by trade. He became a real estate broker in 1984. In 2005, He and Linda took over the weekly journal “The Townsman” – Frank was most noted for his column, Knarf’s Classic Movie Trivia. Throughout his entire life, Frank was an entertainer – on and off stage - his voice is one we will never forget!

Frank had many hobbies and interests. His favorite, of course, was singing on stage with a live audience, but most of all he loved playing with and teaching his grandchildren. He spent many years writing his life’s memoirs. He was a past member of the Tri-Valley Lions. Frank was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church where he spent quite a few years teaching religious education. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Frank will be missed by all, but his Spirit will go on forever.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 Rt. 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788 from 10:00 am to 11:45am. A mass of Christian burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Church at 12 noon with Father Thomas officiating. A reception and celebration of Frank’s life will follow.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating in memory of Frank to NFX – an organization dedicated to finding a cure for Neurofibromatosis by visiting nfxdetroit.org

Farewell My Family and Friends

It was beautiful As long as it lasted The journey of my life. I have no regrets Whatsoever said The pain I’ll leave behind. Those dear hearts Who love and care... And the strings pulling At the heart and soul... The strong arms That held me up When my own strength Let me down. At the turning of my life I came across Good friends. Family who stood by me Even when time raced me by. Farewell, farewell My family and friends I smile and Bid you goodbye. No, shed no tears For I need them not All I need is your smile. If you feel sad Do think of me For that’s what I’ll like When you live in the hearts Of those you love Remember then You never die.
