David L. Rose

David "Dave" L. Rose, of Napanoch, NY, passed away on May 3, 2026 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was 71 years old.

Dave was born to Richard "Sonny" Rose and Sally (Botsford) Rose on April 23, 1955 in Ellenville, NY. He attended Ellenville High School where he met the love of his life, his "high school sweetheart," Sandra "Sandy" Schoonmaker. Dave joined the Navy soon thereafter, serving his country for two years stateside in Connecticut and California. Dave and Sandy married in 1974 and soon welcomed their only and beloved daughter, Kristina Lynn.

Dave was a hardworking, self-taught, skilled carpenter who established and maintained his own successful construction business for many years. In 1999, Dave took a position in the maintenance department but retired a few years later after sustaining an injury. Not one to be easily deterred, there was nothing Dave could not build, and he enjoyed this lifelong career, even in spite of illness, just up until the summer of 2025 when he put a beautiful brand-new deck on a home. Dave was an avid hunter who enjoyed hunting, especially deer and bear. He could often be found at his Hunting Camp, watching a Giants game, or jamming to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, his favorite band. He was skilled with the bow, rifle, and muzzle loader, and delighted in teaching his nephews how to hunt. His nephews were his pride and joy. He also enjoyed fishing in the Catskill waters running throughout the mountains in which he was raised and lived. He also loved camping and boating and riding his Spyder bike, taking long trips on the bike with Sandy as far as Ohio and the Carolinas. Most of all, Dave loved his family, especially his wife, Sandy and cherished daughter, Kristina and his siblings and extended family.

Dave was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Sallie Rose, his brother, Richard Rose, and his sister-in-law, Karen Rose. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Rose; his daughter, Kristina L. Rose Lewis and granddaughter, Alyssa Lewis; his siblings, Hope Kortright, Karen Andrews, Earl Rose, Tina Connolly, Keith Rose, and Lori Ortiz; his brothers and sisters in law, and beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 2-5 pm, at Unity Hall, Berme Road, Napanoch, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dave's memory may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation at www.parkinsons.org or American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.

Arrangements are under the care of Colonial Family of Funeral Homes. For additional information, contact the funeral home at 845-434-7363.

John "Russell" Ferreri

Known to all as Russel, he was a man whose kindness, warmth, and easygoing nature left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He had a natural ability to connect with people, making friends wherever he went and building relationships that meant so much to him and to those around him.

Russel is survived by his fiancé, Carol, whom he loved with all of his heart. Also, his sons, John and Nicholas; His parents Ray and Louise; his siblings Teri, Vince, and Raymond and his many cherished grandchildren. He also leaves behind a wide circle of friends and family who will deeply miss his presence, laughter, and loyalty.

He had a passion for classic cars and collecting antiques. Russel also had a deep love for animals, especially his many cats, whom he cared for with everything he had. And last but certainly not least, his dog, Spike held a special place in his heart, and it brings comfort to imagine them reunited once again.

Russel will be remembered most for his generous spirit, his love for family and friends, and the way he made others feel valued and welcomed. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Rest in Peace Russ. We love you. Give Spikie a hug from us.

Mary Lee Haag

Mary Lee Haag, a lifelong resident of Grahamsville, NY, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 30, 2026. She was born to Edith and Rufus Porter on August 4th, 1939, in Loch Sheldrake, NY.

She married the love of her life, George "Stretch" Haag, on June 5, 1966. They leave behind a combined family legacy of their four children and spouses: Keith and Laura Eighmey, Louise Dayton, Kenneth and Christina Haag, Karl Haag and Ashley Van Aken-Haag. Mary Lee leaves behind her ten beautiful grandchildren that she loved beyond measure: Kelly Rushford and her spouse, Mary Lee Warren and her spouse, Keith Michael Eighmey and his spouse, Stephanie Diescher, Michael Haag and his spouse, Brittney Milk, John Keshecki and his spouse, Melissa Keshecki, James Keshecki and his spouse, Austen Eighmey and his spouse. She also leaves behind her twelve beautiful great-grandchildren that were the apple of her eye. She leaves behind her brothers-in-law Mark "Chip" Haag and his wife Christine, Matthew Haag and his wife Polly, and her sister-in-law Ruth Phillips, as well as many nieces and nephews, along with many "adoptive" grandchildren that she gained over the years.

She is predeceased by her husband, George "Stretch" Haag; granddaughter Stephanie Diescher; her sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Carl Ulrich; brother-in-law Donald Phillips; her parents Edith and Rufus Porter; and her mother and father-in-law George "Bud" and Helen Haag.

Mary Lee was a homemaker until her youngest child graduated from high school, then became the school tax collector for the Tri-Valley School District for over ten years. Mary Lee was very involved in her community. She was a member of the Grahamsville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for over fifty years, was a treasurer and Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, a member of the Grahamsville United Methodist Church, and the coordinator for the Grahamsville food pantry for over twenty years.

The food pantry was one of Mary Lee's greatest accomplishments. The church always had a food pantry, but when Mary Lee and her husband took it over, they revamped it. They put in policies that helped build it to what it is today, and those policies are still used to this day. Mary Lee was very active in this community resource until her passing and took great pride in the food pantry. The food pantry made her feel young and energized, helping those in need as a good Christian that she was.

Knowing how much Mary Lee loved being part of the food pantry and helping her community, her family asks that those who show up to pay their respects at her wake bring a dry or canned good to donate to the pantry in her name. It would be her final way of paying it forward to the community and mission that she loved.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Grahamsville United Methodist Church Food Pantry.

Robert Barrett

Robert E. Barrett, a beloved educator, civic leader, and athlete, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, at Glen Arden Nursing Home in Goshen, New York, at the age of 92.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, June; his daughters, Elizabeth (Jeff) and Katharine (John); his grandchildren, Katie (Jim), Robert (Tanya), Emily, Kristin, and Kevin (Chloe); his great-grandchildren, Max and Zoe; his sister, Marion; and his beloved niece Regina and nephew Matthew, along with their children. He was predeceased by his sister, Rose, and his brothers-in-law, Roger and Frank.

For more than three decades, Robert made his home in Yonkers before retiring to Smallwood in Bethel, where he became a cornerstone of the community. He was widely respected for his unwavering commitment to civic life and his deep sense of responsibility to the people and environment around him. As a dedicated member-and President-of the Civic Association of Smallwood, he served as a thoughtful and persistent advocate, lending his voice to issues of environmental stewardship, water quality, and responsible development. His work on regional efforts, including those connected to the Mongaup River Hydroelectric Projects and the Toronto Reservoir, reflected both his diligence and his belief that communities thrive when people stand up for what matters.

Robert's life was equally defined by his passion for athletics. A distinguished master racewalker, he represented New York at both the National Senior Games and the Empire State Senior Games, earning medals and setting national records well into his 70s. His achievements placed him among the top competitors in the sport, but those who knew him best understood that his true legacy lay in the discipline, perseverance, and quiet determination he brought to every stride.

Robert was always working on something-building or fixing things, knocking out projects, making repairs, and keeping a running list of what needed to be done next. He was a wealth of knowledge, like a living encyclopedia, always ready with an answer, idea, or solution-and if he didn't know something, he could just as easily make it up with confidence and a grin.

He loved sports throughout his life. He played competitive horseshoes and softball and followed baseball closely, growing up with the Brooklyn Dodgers and later cheering for the Mets and the Jets. He was the life of the party and a quintessential Irish storyteller, known for his humor and ability to bring people together, always lighting up every room he entered.

At his core, Robert was an educator, serving for over 40 years in the New York City School System. As principal of I.S. 192, the Piagentini-Jones School in the Bronx from 1982 to 1995, he shaped the lives of countless students and colleagues. He led with integrity, compassion, and a firm belief in the transformative power of education, leaving an enduring imprint on the school community he served.

Robert's life was one of purpose, service, and determined strength. His legacy lives on in the communities he served, the students he guided, the causes he championed, and the family he cherished. He will be remembered with deep respect, lasting gratitude, and great love.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, Inc., 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.

Family and friends are invited to join us at Colonial-Ramsay Funeral Home, 3534 Route 55, Kauneonga Lake, NY, on Monday, April 20th, from 2:30 to 5:00. There will be a celebration of life on Tuesday, April 21st, starting at 11 AM, followed by a burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Route 17B, Bethel, NY.

Larry McCall

Larry McCall Sr was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 9, 1955, to Fred McCall and Lucy Mae McCall. He attended P.S. 59 and I.S. 33, also in Brooklyn, NY. He attended Eastern District H.S. followed by a stint in Job Corp where he was trained in the construction trade. Although Larry did not graduate from high school, he spent all of his life pursuing knowledge. Larry's greatest education occurred when he entered Phoenix House. Larry credited Phoenix house with making him into the man we all knew and loved. He said Phoenix House saved his life. He made lifelong friends there.

Phoenix House also helped make Larry worthy of the woman who would one day become the love of his life, Barbara Westmoreland. Auntie Barbara to most of us. Larry met Barbara in Brooklyn in 1973. The shy church girl meets the charming rascal. In later years they developed a friendship that blossomed into love, and the pair were married Nov, 3, 1981. They welcomed 4 children, Promise, Joy, Larry Jr and Corey. They raised their family in the Seventh Day Adventist faith, honoring the Sabbath, sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. They worshiped at South Brooklyn Seventh Day Adventist church for many years. Barbara and Larry moved their family from Brooklyn to Monticello, NY in the year 2000 to give them a better life away from the chaos of the inner city. In addition to raising their 4 children, they raised, nurtured, counseled, housed and loved a multitude of nieces, nephews, neighbor's children and children from the church. All of this on a construction worker's salary and an 8th grade education.

Larry realized his lifelong dream of learning to read when he attended Literacy Volunteers in Monticello. The 1st novel he ever read was "Men Cry in the Dark", by Michael Baisden. He openly cried with joy and a huge sense of accomplishment when he completed that novel. Larry spent years encouraging children to read, to take their education seriously, going so far as to offer children $10 for every "A' they received on their report card. You had better believe those children showed up with smiles knowing that Mr. Larry would stay true to his word. Some children received as much as $50 per report card. He threw them pizza parties when they helped him clean up the neighborhood, took some of them fishing, and was always ready to lend an ear or a shoulder to cry on. He knew that childhood trauma leads to troubled adults. He really and truly cared.

Larry was employed by Hallen construction where he was known as The Hammer, for carrying 2 hammers on his tool belt and being tough as nails. Unfortunately, his career as a construction worker was tragically cut short when he was hurt on the job. A hit and run that changed his life and forced him into early retirement. Larry spent his remaining years in service to the community as well as to his family.

Unfortunately, a diagnosis of progressive supra- nuclear palsy also known as PSP, with dementia would go on to slowly rob Larry of his memories, his mobility and his dynamic personality. Larry departed this world on Saturday April 11, 2026, at the age of 70. Larry was preceded in death by his father, Fred McCall, his mother Lucy Mae Gordon, stepfather Golie Gordon, brothers Fred Lee, Vander and Mackie McCall, and brother Ben Burnside, and his sisters Cynthia McCall and Carol Patterson.

Larry is survived by his loving wife Barbara McCall, his 4 children, Promise McCall, Joy McCall, Larry McCall Jr, and Corey McCall Sr. His son in law Fabian Clough Sr, daughters in law Shannelle Fields and Amber Haddon. Grandchildren-Nazjaa, Fabian Jr, Demetrius, Jadarius and Jazir Clough. Elijah and Lailah McCall. Alyssa, Corey Jr and Amelia McCall. Kenejah Calhoun And Xiara Omana.

Larry is also survived by his sisters Rosa Mae Pressly, Rosemary Jacox, Diane McCall, Willie McCall, and Patricia McCall, and brother Johnny McCall. Stepbrothers Gregory Gordon, Germany Gordon Sr, Graham Gordon Sr and Gabriel Gordon.

In addition, Larry leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who all loved and cherished him. Some people knew him as Larry Love. Such an appropriate tag because when you were with him, you felt love, you saw love, and you knew you were loved. Larry, you left your mark on this world, and you will truly be missed.

Visitation will be on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 26 Liberty Street, Monticello, NY from 11-1:00pm. A funeral service will begin at 1:00pm followed by interment at Rock Ridge Cemetery. Repast will be held from 4-8:00pm.

Arrangements were under the care of Colonial Memorial Funeral Home for further information please call 845-434-7363 or visit www.colonialfamilyfuneralhomes.com.
