The RAIN Foundationβ¦ I donβt even know where to begin. Walking into that room today, seeing thousands of gifts, hundreds of volunteers, and knowing that over 2,000 children and 650 families are depending on this placeβit hits your heart in a way you canβt prepare for.
Watching my daughter spend three hours wrapping, sorting, shopping, and organizing giftsβ¦ it was one of those moments where you quietly say to yourself, βThis is what kids need to see.β Not the perfect selfies or the fancy things. This. The reality that so many children donβt have what we often take for granted.
We talked afterward, and it was emotionalβseeing the bicycles being built in the back, rows and rows of them, almost 300 bikes being put together by volunteers who donβt get anything in return except the joy of knowing a child will light up on Christmas morning. And thatβs the lesson: you donβt give to get. You give because your heart tells you to.
If every kid could experience this even once, the world would be different. More grateful. More thoughtful. More aware. Helping someone else changes something inside you. It humbles you. It teaches you compassion in real time.
Weβll be back on Thursday, and honestly, if I could spend the whole month helping, I would. Because Pattyβwho created this entire foundation out of love and determination years agoβbuilt something magical. Something bigger than all of us. And these familiesβ¦ theyβre not just receiving gifts; theyβre receiving dignity, hope, and the reminder that their community cares.
Iβm grateful my daughter saw it. Iβm grateful I saw it. And I hope all kids get the chance to feel the power of giving back. Itβs a lesson that stays with you forever.
