Ingrid Harrison - Certified Doulagiver

Ingrid Harrison - Certified Doulagiver An End of Life Doula or Doulagiver is a companion to the dying, offering the patient and their loved ones, support that works in conjunction with Hospice

Whether it be working with someone who is planning for far in the future, to have in place their special wishes, or for patients whose needs are more immediate. For planning, peace of mind, the remedy of unresolved issues and/or the fulfillment of religious/spiritual customs, a Doulagiver makes all of this less worrisome. Incorporating a Doulagiver into the finale of a love one's life, allows for more quality time between family members and less time spent on details. The final phase of life does not need to be a dark, feared journey, let it be a journey of
comfort love and fulfillment.

When I am gone, do not fear my memory.
Do not be afraid to speak my name or look through old photographs.
Do not be scared to play old videos so that you might hear my voice and see me laughing.
Do not be wary of visiting my favourite places or eating my favourite foods or singing along to my favourite songs.
I know it will hurt. Those memories will remind you that I am gone.
They will stab at you like a knife in an open, gaping wound. Raw, excruciating pain.
But after a while the knife will become less sharp, the wound will become less open and the pain will become less raw.
And those memories will remind you that I was here.
That I lived.
Do not reduce my life to my death.
Speak my name, hear my voice, sing my favourite songs and visit my favourite places.
Because that’s how I can stay alive a little.
Right here with you 🧑

Such rewarding work and a privilege.
Gave an initial Zoom consult with a Wonderful family, that lost the family matriarch just hours prior. The last couple of minutes on call out of nowhere, their family dog appeared on the Zoom call. So moving to watch the dog go to all 3 family members to offer love and kisses. No coincidence, he knew the family was grieving!
