It’s time to move beyond defining health as merely the absence of pain, injury, or disease.
Just because you don’t have “something wrong” doesn’t mean you are in a healthy state.

I have many clients who started with MAT to help alleviate some type of issue or pain. Through our work we have helped them overcome the issue, eliminate the pain AND move beyond the OK level. Many continue to come for maintenance because they feel better than the 0 on the chart. They don’t want to settle in at a 1 or 2. They know how good it feels to feel good and they want more of that.

Yes, healthy choices require effort, but they are worth EVERY second!

Your feet should be able to move freely—can yours? What about in your “good”shoes? If your shoes offer support, cushioning, are rigid, or feel like you’re walking on a cloud, your foot likely can’t move as it should. If that’s the case, it can lead to discomfort and dysfunction, affecting your whole body.

The plantar fascia is a thick band of connective tissue on the bottom of the foot that supports the arch. When plantar fascia develops, pain and tightness typically occur in the heel and arch. Typical advice is to stretch the calves and the bottom of the feet to loosen these areas– but what if we look at it differently?
areWhat if the issue isn’t just tightness but instability? If the foot lacks stability during dorsiflexion, the calf muscles may tighten to compensate and protect. Since the ground naturally pushes the foot into dorsiflexion, and the calf has limited flexibility, the bottom of the foot steps in by tightening to further support the arch.
So, what if we approach this with MAT. By identifying and activating muscles that aren’t firing properly, we can restore balance and allow other muscles to relax. The plantar fascia, no longer overworked, can finally return to its normal function.
If you’re struggling with plantar fasciitis find an MAT specialist near you to assess, activate, and restore proper function to your feet (and hips) for lasting relief.

First, your feet are designed to and NEED to both supinate and pronate. When you get a shoe “fitted for the problem,” it often reinforces the issue instead of solving it. Most shoes come with built-in orthotics and extra support. The more support weak feet rely on, the weaker they become. MAT helps to restore natural foot function! Find and MAT practitioner near you to get your feet assessed and treated to improve your foot strength and mobility.

The knee… the one caught in the middle 🦵 So often people come in with knee pain (inside, outside, across the top, etc) and are surprised when we don’t work on the knee.
Here’s the deal, most muscles that move the knee are attached at the hip or foot. If there is an instability in either or both of these areas-the knee will be affected.
Example: if your foot rolls in, naturally your knee would follow suit but we don’t want to walk with knees “diving in” so the outside holds tight (ie IT band) to keep from crashing down.
If the hip is tight holding internal rotation, then the lower leg could turn out to compensate in walking “straight”=knee caught in the middle.

MAT allows us to find your limitations/weakness, correct and bring back mobility WITH stability.

Don’t keep pushing through the pain. Find an MAT practitioner near you today.

He had an old ankle injury which he “healed” from. Healed , as in, no more pain. Mechanically his body hasn’t healed and this before picture shows just how evident that is. Just because there’s no pain doesn’t mean you’re ok. His body is compensating all the way up because his feet are not interacting with the ground in the same way.
Just a heads up- this will wear and tear at other areas of the body, not just the feet/ankles.
As soon as we activated the muscles and got him lined up he felt a huge difference in how he was standing.
It feels GOOD to feel GOOD 😊

“I have scoliosis… can MAT help with that?”

Absolutely! And here are a couple of before and after photos from just one session. The left is sitting upright and the right is hunched. Look at the spinal curve shift and the shoulder blade positioning and angles.
He stood up and felt open, loose, even more stable.

MAT is such an incredible tool that can help anyone with muscles, which means EVERYONE!! It allows us to help your muscular system function optimally so you can align, move, function as you were designed.
Give it a try, your body will thank you!
If you know someone with scoliosis, please share this, as often any relief is welcomed!

Most shoes have some heel to them. We are told iit’s fashionable, it’s technology, it’s needed.
But if we stop and simply ask.. why?? Our bodies are not meant to constantly stand on a hill. And the thing is, when we do this, consistently our bodies get used to it. It may even feel comfortable. The downside- your calves shorten, your feet weaken, your body has to adjust accordingly causing misalignment and now being barefoot becomes the problem so you are told you NEED them. Hmmmmmm 🤔🤔
You started out barefoot, you function best at barefoot, your meant to move barefoot so… let’s rethink what you ACTUALLY need!

Our Story

Avidity came to MN in 2011 and has been helping people feel better, stronger and happier ever since. My name is Amber Baron and I am a Certified Muscle Activation Specialist.

What is MAT? Imagine your muscular system works like a sports team. Each player has a specific role within the team. If one player becomes injured, the remaining players need to step up and cover the injured player's position. They do this in addition to their own responsibilities. It can work, but over time the players wear down, become more prone to injury and eventually, if pushed too hard, will shut down.

Your body works in the same way. Each muscle is designed for a specific role working together to make the whole system work. When certain muscles are over-stressed, their ability to operate becomes compromised. The other muscles then tighten up to protect the body. This is called compensation. Over time it can lead to muscular imbalances, which are often the cause of fatigue, joint pain, instability and limited range of motion.

This is where MAT comes in. The focus of MAT is to identify and treat muscle weakness-not tightness. MAT helps to correct these muscle imbalances restoring normal body alignment, improving muscle function, and creating a foundation for optimal muscle strengthening and training, thereby, decreasing pain and reducing the risk of injury.
