The LUCAS Foundation would like to take this time to extend our sincerest gratitude to entire Downriver community for coming out and supporting Cops and Cones on Saturday. Your generosity never ceases to amaze us and your donations will go a long way towards helping our police officers.

We would like to thank Chase from Paw Patrol for spending the afternoon with us. He was one of the star attractions as the kids were excited to see him.

The LUCAS Foundation sends a special thank you to Kirsten Labadie and her entire staff at Stroh’s Ice Cream Parlour in Wyandotte. Her hospitality for hosting the event, donating a percentage of her profits from the day and her staff donating part of their tips will never be forgotten.

The real stars were the men and women that wear the badge and put on that uniform every day for us. We spent most of our day talking with active and retired police officers all of which are one hundred percent behind us. Thank you to the officers and police departments that stood with us on Saturday:

Tonight, we honor the service of Officer Lucas Henry Sizemore who died by su***de on January 9, 2024.

Lucas was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University and he interned with Homeland Security Investigations in Detroit. He then began a promising career at the Atlanta Police Department; his death profoundly impacted the APD where he was considered family.
In addition to law enforcement, Lucas loved the outdoors. He was an avid camper and hunter and enjoyed the freedom of riding his motorcycle. Lucas was also a music aficionado; he was passionate about music, concerts, and playing his guitars.
He left behind a family and his dogs whom he loved deeply. Since his death, His parents, Brian and Marie Sizemore, have founded the Lucas Foundation, inspired by their son. “Lucas” is short for Law Enforcement’s United Crusade Against Su***de, and its purpose is to raise awareness for law enforcement su***de. It also will raise funds to support mental health resources.
They recently held their first annual Polar Plunge in honor of Lucas. The funds raised from the event and future fundraisers will be distributed to organizations that offer services to prevent su***de among police officers and civilians alike. His parents will also actively keep his legacy alive by speaking openly about su***de and mental health.

Thank you, Officer Sizemore, for your service and legacy. Special thanks to his family for sharing his story.
