👀✨ Spooky Speech Therapy Fun! 🎃🧡

This week in speech therapy, we’re getting hands-on (and a little slimy!) by adding GOOGLY EYES to Halloween slime! 👁️🦇

Not only is this a fun sensory activity — it’s packed with speech & language learning opportunities! 💬👇

💬 Vocabulary:
Talk about what you see and feel — slimy, sticky, bumpy, gooey, squishy, cold!

📍 Prepositions:
Practice where the eyes go — put it in the slime, on top, under, next to, behind!

👂 Following Directions:
Work on listening skills — “Find two eyes and hide them under the slime!”

🧠 Sentence Building:
Encourage full thoughts — “I found three green eyes!” or “The slime is on the table!”

😝 Speech Sounds:
Target articulation goals with themed words — slime, spooky, silly, sticky!

👻 The best part? Kids think it’s just spooky fun — but every giggle, squeeze, and “Eww!” moment builds communication skills!

💬 Play-based learning = meaningful progress!

📸 Try it at home!
Add small Halloween trinkets or mini toys to your slime for more chances to describe, request, and follow directions.

More halloween fun in woodland park!

Join us for the annual Halloween Walk! A spooktacular afternoon of tricks, treats, and community fun! 👻

The businesses in North & South Gold Hill Square will be decked out in their best spooky décor and handing out candy to all the little ghouls and goblins. 🍬

Stop by Community Partnership Family Resource Center to warm up with hot cocoa and apple cider, play some frightfully fun games, and strike a pose in our Halloween photo booth. Don’t miss Ute Pass Regional Health Service District’s spooky ambulance, back again this year for more eerie excitement! 🚑🎃

Love this!! So many ways to model language while doing these activities! Talk to your child about what your doing: playing, jumping, watching etc. Label the activities: hay, pumpkin, leaves, colors etc. Have fun while modeling language!

🍎 Speech Therapy Fun: Apple Theme! 🍎

This week and next week in speech therapy, we are combining a craft activity with a fall book to build language and articulation skills in a fun and meaningful way!

📖 Book of the Week: "Apple Picking Day!" by Candice Ransom – perfect for practicing:

✔️ Vocabulary (apple, tree, basket, red/green, big/little)

✔️ WH- questions (“Who is picking apples?” “Where do apples grow?”)

✔️ Sequencing (“First we climb the ladder, then we pick, last we eat!”)

🎨 Craft of the Week: Apple sun catcher craft: kiddos created their own apples using glue, a paintbrush, apple stencil, tissue paper, stem, and leaf! While crafting, we targeted:

✔️ Following directions (“get 3 red squares, get the paintbrush and dip it into the glue")

✔️ Core vocabulary (“more,” “on,” “big,” “red”)

✔️ Fine motor skills to support speech development

✔️Articulation skills

✔️Labeling actions (“painting, wiping, coloring, gluing, sticking”)

💬 How It Helps: Pairing books + crafts helps kids connect language, social skills, and articulation skills to real experiences, keeps therapy engaging, and builds carryover for home. Plus, crafts make it easy for kids to retell the story or “teach” their families what they learned!

🍂 Fall is the perfect time to make speech therapy hands-on and fun while targeting goals for vocabulary, comprehension, articulation, and social communication.
