'Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un' translated from the Arabic means 'To Allah we belong and to him we will return.’ Late last night we lost a member of our practice- six-year-old boy with chronic medical condition since birth. Please keep him and his family in your prayers.

With permission of the family I will be honoring a beautiful little boy named William (Liam) who was stolen from this world far too soon (not the boy in the story below), and his family, I’ll be posting daily to educate about vaccines, the critical importance of vaccination for yourself and your kids, and the very real threat the antivax movement poses to public health and grieving families.

Antivaxxers don’t just spread dangerous misinformation and disinformation — they exploit the deepest pain of loss parents, weaponizing their stories to fuel lies while compounding unimaginable grief. This cruelty cannot be tolerated, and it’s time to push back with truth, compassion, and science.

***SAME OLD DISCLAIMER: I will not tolerate any antivax comments or any misinformation regarding
vaccines on my page and anyone commenting with such will be deleted and banned without warning (including fake questions/comments meant to disguise the true agenda - I see through this). I’m happy to post links from reputable sources as additional information but I WILL NOT engage with science deniers, especially on this topic.

Day #1 -Grief Should Never Be Exploited: Standing for Science and Families.

My 6-Year-Old Son Died. Then the Anti-vaxxers Found Out.

“My grief is profound, ragged, desperate. I cannot imagine how anything could feel worse. But vaccine opponents on the internet, who somehow assumed that a COVID shot was responsible for my son’s death, thought my family’s pain was funny. “Lol. Yay for the jab. Right? Right?” wrote one person on Twitter. “Your decision to vaccinate your son resulted in his death,” wrote another. “This is all on YOU.” “Murder in the first.”

“Strangers swiped the photo from Twitter and wrote vile things on it. They’d mined my tweets, especially ones where I had written about the public-health benefits of vaccination. Someone needed to make me pay for vaccinating my child, one person insinuated. Another said my other children would be next if they were vaccinated too.”

Vitamin A, at any dose, does not protect against measles and no parent should give to their child vitamin A in hopes of preventing measles. Vitamin A is a micronutrient, meaning very small amounts are all we need to stay healthy and we get those through a healthy diet and in recommended doses of over-the-counter multivitamin supplements. Larger doses of vitamin A given over prolonged periods are very dangerous and can lead to vomiting, blurry vision, headaches, and, when more severe, liver damage and coma.

It is recommended, that under a doctor's supervision, children infected with measles be given vitamin A once a day for two days to reduce the severity of the illness. But that is a small amount in a medical setting. The only way to prevent measles is to have your child vaccinated with the MMR vaccine.
