Last night I crossed the threshold of my 58th revolution around the sun with a group of humans whose friendships span over 40 years. This weekend we reached back in our brains to laugh at things that are still funny all these years later, played trivia games based on memories from college in Connecticut, our years living and visiting each other in NYC, Boston, DC, Baltimore, San Francisco, London, and beyond. Road trips, club nights, concerts, beach life, and adulting. These humble pie punk rock kids never let me down when it comes to having a great time. I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate this huge milestone. My 58th birthday is so important to me because I never thought it would come. My mom died when she was 58 and I was certain that would be my fate, if I made it that far. My mom’s death is a huge part of my why and all these years later I finally beat her record. I am wrapping up my stay at the amazing Madonna Inn, grateful for the time well spent with friends, recharged by the sea, and uplifted by the laughter and tears. Thank you Anita for planning your 59 1/2 birthday, for being my forever maid of honor, and for taking us to this kitchy palace. Thanks McCoy, Mel, Maroon, and Lynette for this amazing celebration. Love you guys!
