Golden Geezers’ Purpose

Golden Geezers is a social club for seniors 50+. The program is sponsored by Fifty Upstate and the Spartanburg County Parks Dept. Our activities are designed to be meaningful, fun and educational. We strive to provide a joyful atmosphere where you can relax, be yourself, laugh, learn and enjoy life with people your own age.

Fifty Upstate and the Spartanburg County Parks Department work in conjunction with the Appalachian Council on Aging to offer a safe environment where seniors can meet in order to help keep them active and independent. The program is also designed to help seniors understand their nutrition needs. Nutrition education is provided monthly and lunches are provided daily.

The program functions on a grant and is free of charge. Seniors must live in Spartanburg County. Seniors ages 50 yrs to 59 yrs qualify for all program activities and lunches. Seniors 60+ qualify for all program activities, lunches and transportation to and from meetings if needed. A short assessment is completed via phone to see if there are any other needs that seniors may be able to receive assistance with.

Activities include games, crafts, day trips and community outreach among other things. Calendars are completed monthly with the group’s input of what they would like to do. Examples are Pokeno, corn hole, seasonal decoration crafts, visiting nursing homes, going to Strawberry Hill, bowling, shopping and so much more!!
