Since Black Friday wasn’t much of a thing this year we wanted to share something really awesome. We have never shared this here before and won’t again, but feel this is the right time to introduce it to you and share the opportunity to shop small and local 🐾

As some of you know, I owned and operated a grooming salon before becoming Daniels wife and assistant. One of the things I was most passionate about was helping my pet clients feel better and thrive instead of just existing. I ran into a lot of issues like skin problems and chewing on feet from yeast overgrowth, high anxiety, bad hips and joints, allergic reactions to shampoos etc so I decided to become an affiliate for an amazing holistic pet company so I could have American made products that I trust to offer my clients and help educate because they always asked “what should I do” when I let them know about the issue.

The best part about the company is the commission I earn on all my own shampoos, dog food, joint supplements etc. It’s like getting rewards for feeding our pups 🙌
Dixie is going on 17, and I truly believe this companies products have helped keep her going strong for years now. We just hiked 5 mile loops this year and she did it without any limping, what an awesome thing to see at 16.

Some of the highlights they offer are, free food for a year, they work with veterans and help provide care for their service dogs, all their products are made in the USA with high quality ingredients you can trust, they even offer breeding programs to help get puppies started out right!

Our products are formulated with the help of our very own panel of vets and we also offer a FREE pet profile option that allows you to answer questions about your pet so you can receive recommendations from our vet panel based on the information you share about your pet. The link for this is will be in the comments!

Since its Cyber Monday we have an awesome BOGO 60% OFF on some really awesome products INCLUDING our freeze dried food! Check out all our products and browse the sale here ⬇️

6 Common Mistakes Pet Parents Make When Bathing Their Pets

For most of us, bath time can be the most relaxing and favorite part of our day. But for our pets? Not so much! With all the splashing, noise, and confinement, it’s no wonder our fur babies might what to sprint away at the sight of the tub.

But, as pet parents, we know regular grooming is essential. It helps with shedding, keeps their coat healthy, reduces allergens, and stops the spread of germs around the house. While they might not love it, here’s how we can make bath time easier by avoiding these common mistakes:

1. Water Temperature is Too Hot or Too Cold -

If the water’s too hot or too cold, it can make bath time even more stressful for your pet. Aim for lukewarm water. You can test it the same way you’d check the temp when bathing a baby—spray the nozzle on your forearm first. The skin there is more sensitive than on your hands, so it’ll help you gauge the right temp. This will make bath time less scary and help them feel more comfortable!

2. Choosing the Wrong Shampoo -

Don't reach for your own shampoo, even if it's "all-natural" or baby shampoo. Pets have different pH levels in their skin than humans, and using our products can dry them out. Stick to shampoos specifically made for dogs or cats—I have a couple I can recommend. Oatmeal-based shampoos are gentle and help with skin issues. If your pet has sensitive skin, try a patch test on the back of their leg first to make sure there’s no irritation before the full bath.

3. Bad Shampoo Application -

When bathing your pet, just applying soap and letting it “soak in” won’t cut it. You need to really work the shampoo into their fur for about four minutes to break down dirt and oil. Start at their legs and move up to their face, using a gentle touch. For their ears, apply a bit of shampoo carefully, tilting their head to avoid water in the ear canal. Rinse from their head down to clear out all the shampoo, making sure the water runs clear before you're done.

4. Using The Wrong Brushing Technique -

It’s important to brush your pet both before and after a bath, but only if you already brush them regularly. If their fur has mats or knots, brushing can be painful and may require a professional groomer’s help. After a bath, make sure your pet is as dry as possible before brushing—especially for breeds with double coats. Wet fur can create more tangles. A slicker brush or long-tooth comb works best, but always check with a groomer or vet to ensure you’re using the right tools and technique.

5. Drying The Incorrect Way -

Make sure you’re ready with towels before the bath—no one wants a soaking wet pet running through the house! After the bath, don’t just give them a quick towel-off. Instead, gently squeeze their fur with the towel to get out as much water as possible. Your pet should be damp, not dripping. It’s best to leave blow-drying to professional groomers, as the heat and noise can stress pets and potentially burn their skin. Getting the drying part right helps avoid mats and keeps your pet comfortable!

6. Bathing To Often -

Pets naturally groom themselves, so you don’t need to bathe your dog or cat more than once a month. Over-bathing can strip away their natural oils and cause skin irritation. Keeping the balance is key to maintaining a healthy coat and skin!

By avoiding these common bath-time mistakes—like using the wrong water temperature, incorrect shampoo, or rushing the drying process—you can make the experience smoother and more comfortable for your pet. Keeping their grooming routine in check will not only make bath time easier but will also contribute to their overall health and happiness. Stick to regular brushing, use the right products, and remember—less is more when it comes to bathing frequency!

And if your Pet is food motivated! Treats before, during & after 😁😁😁😁 And always lots of praise 🥰🥰

We have been camping this week near Columbus Ohio 🏕️

The campground we are staying at has lots of dogs and even a few puppies camping as well.

Something happened this morning that I want to remind and warn pet owners about.

There was another camper walking his pup and Dixie went up to say hi. She sniffed him then was over it and walked away. I, luckily, bent down to pet Dixie immediately after their interaction and there was a big flea right on her nose. 🪳

This is one of the ways your dog can get fleas without you even knowing. Just a quick sniff and a flea had already invaded. This could easily have been a female getting ready to lay eggs and we all know what happens next.

I’m so thankful for our flea spray, so handy when we are camping and knowing even if bugs do jump on her they won’t be able to survive very long.

My little snuggle bug Puddleglum ☺️ He always wants to be touching us. And loves to find the little spots he can curl up in to snuggle.

Puddle is going be (we think) 7 years old this year, and we are happy to report he is happy and healthy. He gets a grain free food (made in America 🇺🇸), fish oil, joint supplements, and fresh veggies daily with the added treat of raw meat and organs as well as raw eggs. With all these crazy dog food recalls I’m so happy our food has NEVER had a recall!!!

If you have seen the recalls and are questioning what you feed then I may be able to help. Click the link below to get a free pet profile and browse our products or reach out to me for a more personal shopping experience. I would love to have you join our pet loving community 🐾
