This month’s core practice will be focusing on the practice of observing emotional states without judgment, and recognizing their impermanence.

We’ll be working to strengthen emotional intelligence and respond thoughtfully to relationship, team and general life dynamics.

Integration Practice:

Pause during moments of emotional intensity and name the emotion (“This is frustration,” etc.).

Reflect: How does labeling emotions affect my ability to interact with others, and lead a situation?

1. “The Story I’ve Been Telling Myself…”
What is the story I’ve been telling myself about business, money, or planning? Where did this story come from? Whose voice do I hear in it? Is it still serving me, or is it time to let it go?

This prompt helps identify inherited beliefs and unconscious blocks, especially those shaped by cultural, familial, or spiritual systems.

2. “Planning Is Sacred Because…”
If I believed planning was a sacred part of my practice, what would it feel like? What if spreadsheets were altars, and strategy was an offering to the longevity of my work?

This reframe allows students to see planning not as soulless, but as a grounding ritual that holds space for their vision.

3. “When I Imagine Sustainability…”
What would it look like to have a practice that supports me emotionally, financially, and energetically? How would I feel waking up each day knowing my business is sustainable and aligned with my values?

This prompt invites visioning and helps shift focus from fear to possibility.

4. “My Resistance Is Protecting Me From…”
What fear lies underneath my resistance to organizing, planning, or growing my practice? What part of me is trying to stay safe, and what would it need to feel supported in taking a small step forward?

Here, resistance is honored as wisdom—this builds compassion and paves the way for change without shame.

5. “One Beautiful Structure I Could Create…”
What is one simple, beautiful structure—like a weekly rhythm, a pricing model, a calendar block—that could bring more ease into my practice? What would it give me more time, space, or energy for?

This opens space for creative, heart-centered planning by starting small and meaningful.

Announcing our Cultivating Joy: A Silent, Mindfulness Retreat for Individuals!

Location: Menla Retreat Center, Phoenicia, NY
Dates: July 30 - August 03 2025

>>> https://menla.org/retreat/cultivating-joy-a-silent-mindfulness-retreat-for-individuals/

Join us at Menla for a gentle, joy inspired, silent retreat consisting of meditation, self compassion, mindfulness and walks in nature. We will begin to gather as a group at 4pm Wednesday for check in and will enjoy our first dinner together at 6pm. Silence will commence around 9:30 pm after the evening introductory session and will continue through Sunday morning when we will break our silence and enjoy our final lunch together with shared reflections.

Cultivating JOY through the lens of silence and self compassion is a noble offering to yourself. Guided meditations and simple mindfulness practices are offered as an invitation to notice and make connections to joy in the midst of it! Attending to and noticing the obstacles arising cultivates space for those moments of joy that may pass by unnoticed. It is not necessary to have meditation experience but it is preferred.

This retreat is not a traditional Vipassana silent retreat yet it holds silence as a sacred practice and also includes writing, sitting and eating meditation practices, music with eye shades and a mat, and movement. This is an opportunity to bring joy into your everyday life!

This month’s Core Practice will be centered around mindful walking. You’ll spend time being fully present and aware while walking, and focusing on the sensations of your body and your surroundings.

Mindful Walking: Move with intention and awareness, paying attention to each step and its connection to the ground.

Translate mindful steps into actionable, strategic planning.

Integration Practice:

Incorporate mindful walking for 5 minutes during breaks.

Reflect: What insights arise when I intentionally slow down and focus on one step at a time?

Emotional healing involves complex processes within the mind and heart that cannot be rushed.

Just as physical wounds require time to mend, emotional wounds require patience, understanding, and effort to heal.

These wounds often stem from deep-seated beliefs, past traumas, or ingrained patterns of thought and behavior, which can take time to unravel and address. Moreover, emotional healing often involves confronting painful or uncomfortable emotions, which can be challenging and require courage and resilience. It takes work because healing requires a willingness to delve into these difficult emotions, to process and make sense of them, and to cultivate new ways of thinking and responding.

This is why integration is so crucial after any ketamine assisted healing experience, whether it be one of our retreats or a single session at a practice - practicing self-care and self-compassion, and engaging in activities that promote healing and growth are the main ways to make the deep reflection/discoveries manifest into permanent positive change.

Ultimately, emotional healing is a journey—a journey of self-discovery, acceptance, and transformation—that unfolds gradually over time, but with dedication and commitment, it is a journey that can lead to profound healing and inner peace.

Monthly Core Practice Session 2: Vision and Values – Aligning Purpose with Action

It's month 2! Welcome back to our series of monthly practices designed to support you in cultivating joy to follow along the journey of our practitioners in our Emerging Leaders Program.

This month’s Core Practice will be centered around mindful breathing. Spend time learning to anchor attention on the breath to train focus and create space for thoughtful decision-making. Leadership Connection: Cultivate clarity and intentionality in aligning leadership goals with personal values.

-- > Integration Practice: Take “3 mindful breaths” before key decisions or meetings.

Every time you find yourself in one of these key situations, pause and take three mindful breaths, focusing on each inhale and exhale. Allow this moment of awareness to center you, bringing clarity and presence to your next steps.

-- > Journal Reflection: How does focusing on my breath shift my clarity or emotional state? (write at least 5 entries reflecting on this question)

Daring greatly means the courage to be vulnerable.
It means to show up and be seen.
To ask for what you need.
To talk about how you’re feeling.
To have the hard conversations.

Why choose a retreat instead of regular therapy?

In a world that moves at lightning speed, therapy retreats offer a precious haven for individuals seeking refuge from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Our Ketamine-Assisted Mindfulness Retreats are designed to help you reach a higher level of therapeutic transformation through experiential education.

While therapy retreats don’t replace traditional session-based therapy, there are some wonderful benefits to taking a step away and attending a retreat in conjunction with your regular practice!

1️⃣ Take Control of Your Recovery: Distractions at home and work can make it tough to focus on mental health. A therapy retreat allows you to leave those distractions behind, dedicating quality time to your recovery journey.

2️⃣ Find Support At Every Step: Sometimes, you need more than professional and familial support. Therapy retreats offer a unique environment where you connect with others who share similar experiences, learning vital coping mechanisms and gaining constant expert support.

3️⃣ Address Relationships: Unhealthy relationships impact mental health. A therapy retreat allows you to analyze and rethink your relationships, with the guidance of expert staff members, helping you set goals for positive change.

4️⃣ Find a New Part of Yourself: Away from regular distractions, you have the freedom to explore new activities and discover what truly resonates with you. Identify what brings you joy and carry these insights back into your daily life.

5️⃣ Think For Yourself: In the midst of daily stresses, it's challenging to hear your own voice. A retreat provides the time and space to think independently, leading to enhanced clarity and purpose in your life.

Interested in trying a retreat for yourself? We highly recommend learning more about and applying for one of our Ketamine-Assisted Mindfulness Retreats. They’re safe, structured and led by a staff of licensed and highly experienced therapists and physicians in the beautiful Catskill Mountains!

Monthly Core Practice Session 1: Cultivating Presence – Grounding in Leadership

Beginning this month, we’ll share a monthly practice designed to support you in cultivating joy to follow along the journey of our practitioners in our Emerging Leaders Program.

We’re going to focus on developing an embodied awareness by tuning into physical sensations. Leadership connection goal: learn to stay present and grounded, especially during challenging moments.

Integration Practice: Daily body scan meditation (10–15 minutes).

Find a quiet space to sit or lie down comfortably. Close your eyes, take a deep breath in, and exhale slowly. Begin at your feet, noticing any sensations, and breathe relaxation into them.

Move up through your legs, hips, lower back, and abdomen, releasing any tension with each exhale. Bring awareness to your chest, upper back, shoulders, arms, and hands, letting them soften.

Relax your neck, jaw, and face, easing any tightness. Finally, sense your whole body as a unit, breathing deeply into the present moment. When ready, open your eyes and carry this calm into your day.

Journal Reflection: What sensations signal stress or calm in my body? (5 minutes)
