As part of National 4-H Service Days members of the Woodstock Wannabes and their parents helped The Land Conservancy of McHenry County as they begin to establish their new Food Forest adjacent to Prairiewood/Creekside schools.

The goal of the TLC Food Forest is to grow edible plants, nut and fruit trees along with native perennials designed to attract beneficial insects and pollinators to the garden.

The club members spent the day laying out the first rows with organic compost that will eventually contain the perennials as well as covering the walkways in between with wood chips.

Woodstock Wannabes 4-H club members had a blast decorating a tree for the Woodstock Community Christmas Tree Walk. This year’s theme was Christmas Around the World. The tree represents the forests around the globe, the blue garland symbolizes water, the lights the sun, and the ornaments countries worldwide. The trees are on display at the Woodstock Opera House now through December 28.

The Woodstock Wannabes won third place for their decorated pumpkin as part of the Great Pumpkin Walk 2024. The pumpkins were displayed as part of the Woodstock Witches and Wizards Event on October 20. The winning entries were displayed on the Woodstock Square during the city’s Annual Trick or Treating Event on October 31.

Members of the Woodstock Wannabes, along with other organizations, volunteered to fill Macyn’s Jars on October 29.

Macyn's Jars are plastic jars that contain 5 different "fidget toys". The jars are designed to be given to children over the age of 3 and special needs adults.

Macyn's Jars are donated to 25 Hospital Emergency Departments, 13 Fire Stations, 14 Police Stations, 5 Specialty Offices and 65 Squad Cars. For more information please visit https://macynsjars.org/
