Made a quick stop at the monthly Stand Up For Seniors luncheon to enjoy lunch and support a great cause. It was inspiring to be surrounded by senior living professionals who are dedicated to giving back to the community in Cherokee County. The next luncheon will take place on Friday the 17th of October at the Retreat at Canton from 11:30 am to 1 pm, with lunch only $10 in support of a worthy cause. Hope to see you there!

Poole Funeral Home Hosts First Responder Barbecue Honoring Cobb & Cherokee County Heroes

Woodstock, GA – On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Poole Funeral Home will host its annual First Responder Barbecue to celebrate and honor the first responders and linemen who faithfully serve Cobb County and Cherokee County. This free, event will take place at Poole Funeral Home parking lot,
1970 Eagle Drive,
Woodstock, GA 30189.

Brian Poole, Owner and Funeral Director of Poole Funeral Home, will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs, while Jeremy Powell of Oink, Cackle, and Moo BBQ will prepare a barbecue feast from his giant smoker. Jeremy will start cooking the night before, smoking 50 Boston butts on-site so they’re hot, fresh, and ready to serve.

Jeremy’s passion for BBQ began as a child, traveling with his grandfather to contests that sparked his idea of using food as a way to bring people together. He has lived in Woodstock since 2002, is celebrating 24 years of marriage, and is a proud father of three children.

The event will feature a traditional Southern barbecue spread with all the fixings, a live DJ, and plenty of community spirit to show gratitude to those who protect and serve.

Media Invitation:
Members of the media are invited to cover this community celebration. Filming opportunities begin at 9:30 p.m. on October 27, when the smoker is lit, and continue the morning of October 28 as the meats are cooked to perfection.
