Are you or someone you know at risk of falling?

Risk factors considered to have a high association with falls, which are also modifiable, include:

*the fear of falling
*limitations in mobility and undertaking the *activities of daily living
*impaired walking patterns (gait)
* impaired balance
*visual impairment
*reduced muscle strength
*poor reaction times
*use of multiple medications specifically benzodiazepines, antidepressants, anti-psychotics and psychoactive medications 56.

At an individual level, health care professionals can identify risk factors using risk screening tools and risk assessment tools as appropriate.

We are going to be talking Fall Risk and Safe techniques to get you back on your feet.

If anyone is interested I would like to put on a practice session in Woodstock Saturday July 7. This is to practice transitioning from swim to bike to run. If anyone is interested please let me know if you will be attending. This is in preparation for Luray which will be 5 weeks away. Time to get on with training. This will help those who plan on doing Luray Tri to minimize the risk of any mishaps during transition.
