Grieving who you used to be is more common than you think, and most of us are too busy pushing through to even realize it.

Stacey B. Washington of Shifther Inc. was in the best shape of her life when perimenopause hit. Perfect bloodwork, strong, running, lifting, all of it. Then 50 pounds came on, her hair started falling out, and doctor after doctor told her she was fine.

Even after she finally figured out what was happening, she could not stop chasing the woman she used to be. It took a psychologist to put a name to it. She wasn't just struggling with symptoms. She was grieving.

If this is hitting close to home, the full conversation between Dr. Z. Colette Edwards and Stacey Washington is on the Menopause the pausitive Way podcast now.

Your brain health starts on your plate, and not just with a Mediterranean diet ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿฅ—

Brain Awareness Week and National Nutrition Month continue, and this episode from our Menopause the pausitive Way podcast featuring Dona Murphy, MD, PhD is one we keep coming back to.

The MIND diet, one of the most scientifically-proven tools for supporting cognitive health during the menopause journey, emphasizes dark leafy greens, berries, nuts, and lean proteins. But as Dr. Murphey points out, telling a woman to eat a Mediterranean diet without considering her cultural foods and lived experience only goes so far.

Perilla leaves in Korean cuisine. Collard greens in southern cooking. Spinach on someone else's table. They are all dark leafy greens. They all count. Every woman deserves brain health guidance that actually meets her where she is.

Stop trying to "force" sleep!

One of the biggest mistakes we make on the menopause journey is hunting down sleep like it owes us something. As Zeke Medina, PharmD, RPh, puts it: sleep isn't something you find, it's something that comes to you when you create a sense of safety and relaxation.

For , try shifting your focus from "getting to sleep" to "getting to relaxed." A warm bath or shower might be the simple shift you need. ๐Ÿ›๐ŸŒ™

Up to 60% of menopausal women experience sleep disruption, so if this is you, you are far from alone, and you deserve real solutions beyond "have you tried chamomile tea?"

You finally have time to work out. You lace up your shoes, head to the gym, and then just... stand there. Because nobody ever actually taught you what to do with weights.

Strength training is one of the most important things you can do for your body during the menopause journey, but most of us were never given real guidance on how to do it. And it turns out, the science is simpler than you think.

Muscle loss begins in our 30s and accelerates through peri/postmenopause. The right resistance training routine can slow that down, protect your bones, support your metabolism, and keep you doing the things you love for years to come. Harvard Medical School's Dr. Edward Phillips breaks it all down, and we pulled the most important takeaways just for you. ๐Ÿ’ช

You are not too old or too out of shape, and itโ€™s not too late to start. Your body was built to adapt. Let's give it something to work with.

Your GI symptoms deserve more than a 'that's just menopause' response. Here's what to know this Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.๐ŸŽ—๏ธ

Bloating, constipation, and GI changes are incredibly common on the menopause journey, but they also happen to overlap with early colorectal cancer symptoms. With colon cancer rates rising fastest in adults under 55, those symptoms deserve a real conversation with your provider, not just a "that's just menopause" brush-off.

๐Ÿ”ฌWhat the Research Shows: Studies spotlighted by Fred Hutch and the American Cancer Society suggest that menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) may be associated with a lower risk of colorectal cancer. That doesn't mean MHT is right for everyone, but it does mean this conversation deserves a place at the table with your provider.

๐Ÿ“‹What You Can Do Right Now: Ask your provider about colorectal cancer screening, because guidelines have changed and screening now starts at 45. And if you're already on MHT or considering it, bring up colorectal cancer risk as part of that conversation. Knowledge is your superpower.

Letโ€™s talk about something we do not name often enough: grief. ๐Ÿ’›

In this clip from Menopause the pausitive Way, our Founder and Chief Medical Officer, Z. Colette Edwards, MD, MBA, and Courtney Pesek dive into the grief that can show up during the menopause journey.

Grief for what your body used to do. Grief for dreams that shifted. Grief for futures that changed. For some, it's grief around not having children. For others, it's feeling like you've lost yourself.

But here's what Colette noticed in her conversation with Courtney: when you honor what you're letting go of instead of fighting it, grief doesn't have to swallow you whole. Your mindset and outlook can make all the difference!

If you're feeling grief during this transition, nothing is wrong with you. It's normal. It's human. And you don't have to carry it alone.
