Have you heard of ARFID?

In our latest blog, the first part of a two-part series, super-spoonie volunteer Tori explains what ARFID is.

ARFID is much more than just “picky eating." People with ARFID have strong reactions and anxiety about food that go beyond simply disliking certain foods.

‼️ A Message from the Founder and CEO ‼️
🌀October is Dysautonomia Awareness Month🌀

October is Dysautonomia Awareness Month, a critical time to shine a light on a condition characterized by dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system. This often-misunderstood disorder profoundly impacts essential, involuntary bodily functions, including blood pressure, heart rate, blood circulation, and the function of the gastrointestinal, urinary, reproductive, and vascular systems.

Throughout this month, we encourage you to stay tuned to Spoons of Salt as we share informative content exploring the various types of Dysautonomia and their profound effects on the individuals who manage these symptoms daily.

✨Support Our Mission and Community✨

At Spoons of Salt, our mission extends beyond awareness to provide essential support for our community.

💠 Your support is vital and directly funds our programs and advocacy efforts. Please use the donation link provided below to contribute. Even if a financial contribution isn't possible, we urge you to ✨share this post✨.

Spreading information is equally impactful, offering vital knowledge to those who may be struggling or seeking answers. Help us amplify the message of Spoons of Salt throughout the area; many individuals, disproportionately women, live with invisible disabilities and disorders like Dysautonomia. To all in our community, we see you and stand with you.

We invite those who are struggling to join our ✨support groups✨ every ✨Saturday from ✨1:00 PM to 3:00 PM✨ at our new location.

🌀Addressing Holistic Needs🌀
🔷Food Drive and Basic Necessities🔷

In partnership with a local home health care and hospice business, we have identified urgent and heartbreaking needs among vulnerable clients. Many face severe challenges, including food insecurity, being forgotten in nursing facilities, or lacking basic necessities like appropriate footwear. We are also working to address issues concerning the transparency and quality of nutrition clients receive in care homes.

✨How You Can Help✨

⦿ Donate to Our Food Drive (in partnership with Never Alone Community Food Pantry): Please drop off non-perishable food items in the designated box located in the hallway outside our new Headquarters at 4929 North Main Street, Ste. 206, Acworth, GA

🔷 The collection box is accessible at your convenience until November 12th🔷

⦿ Financial Support: Donate via the link below to support our programs and our efforts to provide basic necessities (like shoes) to those in need.

⦿ Get Involved: Contact a Spoons of Salt Staff or Board member for more information on how you can assist with these wider community efforts.

Your support helps us ensure that our clients and community members are not only seen but receive the essential physical and emotional support they deserve.

Sincerely,

Chelsea Matherly
