September is Pain Awareness Month, and we want to shine a light on a lesser-known, but often debilitating, symptom of chronic illness: allodynia.

Imagine the simple brush of a shirt against your skin, a gentle breeze, or a light hug from a loved one. For someone with allodynia, these everyday, non-painful sensations can feel excruciating. It's not just an overreaction; it's a neurological misfiring where the nervous system interprets touch as pain.

What causes it?
Allodynia is often a symptom of conditions that affect the nervous system, such as:

🙁 Fibromyalgia
🙁 Chronic Migraine
🙁 Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)
🙁 Trigeminal Neuralgia

If you or a loved one experiences allodynia, remember you are not alone. This is a real and valid symptom of chronic pain.

Spread awareness by sharing this post to help others understand what allodynia is.

-Supplies for monthly awareness events- awareness pins, craft activity supplies *we do some sort of craft every month*
-Storage unit fee- monthly- holding our supplies for social events, future SOS yard sales, mobility devices
-Food/Drinks for social events
-Activities for social events
-Items for making flyers, posters- ink, printer paper, etc
-Supplies for making medical binders and organizing them for future appointments with specialists and other physicians

Please donate if you can! We sincerely appreciate every donation we get and put it to use! Remember we are a nonprofit, so everything we get goes back into the organization!
