Non-pharmaceutical pain management (NPPM) refers to any intervention or method used to reduce or manage pain that does not involve the use of controlled drugs or medication.

It is an umbrella term that includes a wide range of therapies, often categorized into:
โ–ช๏ธPhysical/Sensory Methods
โ–ช๏ธMind-Body Methods
โ–ช๏ธLifestyle modifications
NPPM methods can be used alone for mild-to-moderate pain or, more commonly, in conjunction with medication (as a complementary therapy) to manage moderate-to-severe pain.

Pain management treatment is unique to each individual, and it is always essential to discuss starting a new pain management strategy with your doctor.

Which pain management techniques have you looked into, but not tried before?

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at Spoons of Salt. We are grateful for everyone who has joined our community and helps us grow together.
Thanksgiving can be a tough holiday for chronically ill folks with dietary restrictions, extra spoons spendage, and things being out of our normal routine. Please be kind to your spoonie friend or family member today and have a wonderful day whether you celebrate today or not.

Chelsea's journey to founding SOS began not in a business plan, but in a deeply personal need for community. After being diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and navigating the complex realities of living with multiple chronic illnesses, she realized a critical gap existed: a reliable, empathetic support group to help people learn how to live a full and meaningful life while effectively managing and pacing their conditions. While those types of groups exist online, there are very few groups that provide an in-person, local community of people with invisible illnesses like Spoons of Salt does.
Driven by her own experience and an innate compassion for others, Chelsea decided it would be wonderful to help others figure out the same path. With the vital partnership of Vice President Sarah Rupp, Chelsea established Spoons of Salt as a nonprofit organization to reach and support a larger community of people facing similar challenges.
Chelsea's professional background is deeply rooted in healthcare and a decade-long commitment to helping others. Her professional experience includes:
10+ years as a Certified Nursing Aide (CNA), specializing in the sensitive and crucial field of elder-care, particularly in memory-care settings.
Nearly a decade working as a skilled Phlebotomist.
Serving as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) for about 8 years.
This extensive experience in diverse healthcare roles has not only provided Chelsea with valuable medical knowledge but has profoundly shaped her character. Her hands-on dedication to patient care has fueled her unwavering compassion, making her an exceptionally empathetic and understanding leader for the Spoons of Salt community.

Today they uploaded week 6. There will be 8 weeks in this series. You can watch the videos on our youtube channel the linked playlist. Enjoy and we hope the videos help.
