Fuchs’ dystrophy is a progressive disease that affects your cornea. It’s best to catch the disease in its earliest stages to prevent vision problems and to control any eye discomfort.
The trouble is that you may not know you have Fuchs’ dystrophy until it causes more noticeable symptoms. Getting a regular eye exam including retinal scanning can help catch eye diseases like Fuchs’ before they progress.

Retinal detachment happens when the thin layer of tissue at the back of the eye pulls away from its regular position. This layer of tissue is called the retina. Retinal detachment is an emergency.
Symptoms of retinal detachment can include the following: reduced vision, the sudden appearance of dark floating shapes and flashes of light in your vision, and loss of side vision.

Do you want to wear contacts? An eye exam is not the same as a contact lens fitting. If you currently wear contacts, or would like to start, you need both an eye exam (a complete assessment of your refractive status, binocular system and eye health) and a contact lens fitting. Wearing over-the-counter readers over your distance contacts? Ask our doctors about trying multifocal contact lenses. They have different powers within a single lens to allow you to see at various distances. Typically, multifocal lenses allow you to see at distant, intermediate, and near ranges with the same lens.
