This is Hurricane Debby's current track - which will change several times in the coming days. However, in a worst-case scenario, the remnants could bring significant rain to Vermont on Friday into Saturday. Now is the time to prepare for any future flooding; remove debris from culverts and drainage areas, sign up for Vermont Alert (www.vtalert.gov), and follow other advice at https://vem.vermont.gov/preparedness/floods

Hot and humid conditions are expected today. High temperatures in the mid 80s to low 90s will combine with high dewpoints to create heat index values well into the 90s in most locations. Please make sure to follow heat safety measures, especially if you will be outdoors. Drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks in the shade or in an air-conditioned location.

Ticks can pop up in surprising places. Check your body carefully after outdoor activities, to search for ticks who may have hitched a ride. If you find a tick attached, CDC’s Tick Bite Bot is an interactive tool that can help you safely remove the tick, and determine if appropriate to seek health care.

When outdoors in the heat, wear lightweight, loose-fitting, and light-colored clothing to reflect heat and sunlight. If you will be spending time outdoors, hats are also a good idea to protect your face and scalp from harmful UV rays. Also, don’t forget to apply sunscreen liberally. weather.gov/safety/heat

OHF is Proud to Offer Health & Wellness Grants, Programs and Resources

The Ottauquechee Health Foundation provides grants and supports programs to help meet health and wellness needs in Barnard, Bridgewater, Hartland, Killington, Plymouth, Pomfret, Quechee, Reading, and Woodstock.

For more than 20 years, the Ottauquechee Health Foundation has fostered health and wellness in our communities through support for education and initiatives, and grants to help our neighbors meet their healthcare needs. OHF helps people with limited financial resources to access health and wellness services they might not otherwise receive, including medical care, dental care and dentures, hearing aids, eyeglasses, counseling and caregiver support.

The Foundation’s Board of Trustees, a talented team of community members, oversees the Foundation’s work, led by a full-time executive director.

OHF began as a health center in the Simmons House (facing Pleasant Street) in the 1950s, building and moving into the current health center building in 1974. In 1996, health service delivery was taken on by a local hospital and the Foundation was created in its current form, focused on providing grants and supporting access to health and wellness care in our community.
