We need your help please. Important H**p Industry Update – Congressional Action Needed
Bipartisan legislation has been introduced in Congress to safeguard the 2026 h**p planting season and provide long-overdue certainty for h**p farmers and businesses across the country.
Representatives Jim Baird (R-IN) and Angie Craig (D-MN) have introduced the H**p Planting Predictability Act (H.R. 7024). This legislation would extend the current federal h**p framework for an additional two years, allowing lawmakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders the time needed to establish clear, science-based h**p regulations—without forcing farmers to make critical planting decisions amid uncertainty.
This legislation:
Protects American h**p farmers
Respects states’ rights
Maintains congressional oversight
Supports a stable, bipartisan path forward for h**p regulation
The timing is critical. H**p farmers nationwide are just weeks away from deciding whether to plant for the upcoming season. Without action from Congress, continued uncertainty could lead to major disruptions throughout the supply chain, affecting growers, processors, manufacturers, retailers, and small businesses alike.
This is not a call to avoid regulation. H**p farmers and businesses are asking for clarity and stability—so the future of legal h**p is shaped deliberately by policymakers, not by confusion or last-minute policy shifts.
Representative James Comer (R-KY) has also been a key supporter, recently speaking on the House floor in favor of protecting farmers and reinforcing the need for bipartisan cooperation on this issue. We have strong advocates in Congress, but their success depends on visible, nationwide support.
