Saying things like this to kids who have genuine unmet needs teaches them that they should be ashamed to ask for help when they need it.

These kids become adults who struggle silently trying to bear the burdens of life alone because they dare not begg.

Can we normalize asking for help when we genuinely have unmet needs? Can we normalize not being critucal or judgemental when we don’t understand another person’s needs. Asking for what you need takes courage, self awareness, and humility. And it’s nothing to be ashamed of. We weren’t created to go it alone.

Here are a few tips for handling those grinchy personalities without escalating the situation. And remember that even the grinch had a reason for his sour demeanor. It's not our place to judge, but we don't have to put up with mistreatment.
