Saturn falls in Aries!
Saturn is the "Greater Malefic," which is Extremely Cold and Dry.
Aries is the home of Mars, which is Extremely Hot and Dry.
When Saturn falls in Aries, the Islamic astrologers saw a "clash of extremes." While both share "dryness" (which creates hardness and rigidity), the heat of Aries attacks the cold of Saturn. They described this as a planet being in a "foreign land" where the local customs (Martial heat/speed) are hostile to its soul.
In Arabic texts, a planet in its fall is often described as being in a state of Hubut (descent/falling) or being Saqit (fallen/lowly).
Abu Ma'shar interpreted a falling planet as a nobleman who has lost his estate. Because Saturn represents "Ancient" and "Old" its fall in Aries—the sign of the "New Self" and "Uprising"—was seen as the shame of an elder or the toil of a king forced to serve as a common soldier.
The Broken Structure: They believed that because Saturn rules "foundations," its fall in Aries caused foundations to be "sandy" or unstable. Projects started under this influence were thought to be "hollow" (illusions) that would eventually collapse under the heat of the Sun (which is exalted in Aries).
