Oral disease is the world’s most widespread yet overlooked health crisis.
3.5 billion people are living with an oral health condition, from tooth decay to gum disease to oral cancer.

That’s 1 billion more than those impacted by cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer combined.

At Benevis, we believe these facts should never be ignored. That’s why we support dental teams with the training, tools, and reach to serve the families most affected by these gaps.

Together, we can move oral health to the center of whole-person care.

🛡️Sealants are one of the most effective, and underused, tools in preventive dentistry. They can block up to 80% of cavities in molars for two years, yet fewer than half of children in the U.S. receive them.
So why do less than half of kids have them? Because awareness, access, and coverage gaps get in the way.
At Benevis, we train and support our dental teams to make sealant education and application a standard part of pediatric care, especially in communities where preventive options are often out of reach.
By prioritizing sealants, we help protect smiles and reduce the need for costly restorative care down the road.
🦷 Sealants aren’t just a service, they’re a standard.

Poverty continues to be a major factor in oral health disparities across all age groups in the U.S., and the gap widens as we age. For adults between 50-64 years old, nearly 47% of those living in poverty have less than 21 teeth, compared to 83% of non-poor adults who maintain functional dentition. This growing disparity underscores the lifelong impact of poverty on oral health. 🦷

Growing up in poverty creates many challenges for maintaining oral health, and these challenges extend well into adulthood. Here are some key barriers:

☑️Affordable Access to Care: Nearly 12% of Americans couldn't afford necessary dental care. For low-income individuals, dental services make up a significant portion of their income, making care unaffordable.

☑️Insurance Coverage: Almost 27% of adults in the U.S. lack dental insurance, limiting their access to routine care.

☑️Geographic Access: Low-income areas often have limited access to dental providers, especially those who accept Medicaid or CHIP, making care harder to find.

These factors create a cycle that impacts dental health across generations. Learn more about these disparities in our white paper on how Poverty Shapes Oral Health: https://hubs.la/Q03w36h40

What do you think can be done to break this cycle? Please share your thoughts in the comments.
