Happy National Rural Health Day! 🌄💙

Today we join communities across the country in celebrating the Power of Rural. Each year on the third Thursday of November, we honor the people, providers, and partners who make rural healthcare strong.

More than 60 million Americans call rural communities home—and places like ours are filled with resilience, compassion, and neighbor-to-neighbor support. Rural hospitals like Cottage Hospital play a vital role, serving as both healthcare providers and anchors of the local economy.

National Rural Health Day is also a chance to recognize the unique challenges rural communities face, including provider shortages, accessibility issues, and higher rates of chronic conditions. But today, we celebrate the extraordinary people working to meet those challenges with dedication and heart.

A special shoutout to the Community Stars recognized by the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health—leaders whose stories inspire us all.

Thank you to our staff, volunteers, and community for being the reason rural healthcare thrives. 💙

Cottage Hospital Community,

Santa is making a special stop at Cottage Hospital, and we can’t wait to welcome families for an evening filled with holiday cheer!

Bring the kids to meet Santa, snap a photo, and write their letters to the North Pole! We’ll also have other fun activities to keep little ones smiling all afternoon.

🌟 Welcome to the Team, Amy Lynn Davis, APRN, FNP-BC! 🌟

We’re thrilled to welcome Amy Lynn Davis, APRN, FNP-BC, to the Cottage Hospital team!

Originally from Gorham, New Hampshire, Amy ventured out west after high school before returning home to the Granite State in 2016. She chose to join Cottage Hospital because of the close-knit environment and the opportunity to truly get to know her patients on a personal level — something that makes small-practice care so special. 💙

Amy became a Family Nurse Practitioner because she values building long-term relationships with her patients and enjoys being able to support them through all aspects of their lives and wellness journeys.

Outside of work, Amy loves spending time outdoors — hiking, kayaking, running, and soaking in all that the White Mountains have to offer. 🏔️☀️

We’re so excited to have Amy join our team and can’t wait for our patients to get to know her!

🌟 Welcome Back, Terri Aubin, LICSW! 🌟

We’re so happy to welcome Terri Aubin, LICSW, back to the Cottage Hospital team!
Originally from California, Terri grew up in New England and previously worked here at Cottage from 2018 to 2019. Her decision to return was inspired by the strong sense of teamwork and support she experienced from our staff and administration — and by the meaningful connections she’s built with our patients and community.💙

Terri chose to become a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker because she has always had a deep passion for helping others reach their full potential and guiding people toward positive change in their lives.

Outside of work, Terri enjoys spending time with the arts — especially singing, dancing, and reading. Fun fact: she was even an opera singer earlier in her career! 🎶

We’re thrilled to have Terri back with us at Cottage Hospital and know she’ll continue to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.

This week, we’re shining a well-deserved spotlight on our incredible Radiology Technologists here at Cottage Hospital! The week-long celebration commemorates Wilhelm Röntgen's discovery of the X-ray in 1895. 💙

Our Rad Techs play a vital role in patient care every single day — providing accurate, compassionate, and skilled imaging services that help guide diagnosis and treatment for our patients. From X-rays to CT scans and everything in between, their expertise and attention to detail make a true difference in the quality of care we deliver.

Radiologic Technology Week is the perfect time to recognize and thank these dedicated professionals for the essential work they do — often behind the scenes — to keep our patients safe and our providers informed.

Emma’s cheerful personality and positive attitude brighten every room she walks into. She’s always smiling, greeting everyone she meets, and going above and beyond to help patients feel comfortable and cared for. Whether it’s lending a hand, sharing a kind word, or making sure each patient is set for the day, Emma’s compassion and dedication shine through in everything she does.

When asked why Emma was nominated, one coworker shared:
“She is always in a good mood, smiling and greeting everyone. You can always see her helping a patient out, making sure they’re good for the day, chatting with them, and keeping busy.”

💙 Celebrating 48 Years of Dedication: Congratulations on Your Retirement, Debbie Wi******er! 💙

In October, Cottage Hospital came together to celebrate the remarkable career and retirement of Debbie Wi******er, RN, who has been part of our Cottage family for an incredible 48 years.

Throughout her decades of service, Debbie has cared for countless patients, mentored generations of nurses, and touched the lives of everyone she’s worked with. Her compassion, skill, and unwavering dedication to our community have left a lasting impact that will be felt for years to come. 💐

During her retirement celebration, staff, friends, and colleagues gathered to honor Debbie’s extraordinary contributions and to wish her all the best in this next exciting chapter of life. The love and admiration in the room were a true reflection of how deeply she is appreciated and respected by all who know her.

👋 Please join us in welcoming Stacey Pelkey, CPHQ, to Cottage Hospital! 💙

Stacey joins our team as the Central Scheduler for Nursing Staff in both our Emergency Department and Medical-Surgical Unit! She brings with her a strong background in healthcare quality — having previously served as a Quality Manager and earning her CPHQ certification for her commitment to excellence in patient care and continuous improvement.

A graduate of Southern New Hampshire University, Stacey’s interest in healthcare was inspired by her mother, who worked as a nurse. While she admired the impact of clinical work, Stacey found her own passion in the operational and quality side of healthcare — helping ensure patients receive the safest and most efficient care possible.

This exciting opportunity was presented by our very own Brian O’Hearn, who had the pleasure of working with Stacey in the past and recognized the great value she would bring to our team!

In her free time, Stacey loves to travel and has explored several beautiful destinations throughout the Caribbean, enjoying the sunshine, beaches, and vibrant island culture. 🌴✈️

We’re thrilled to welcome Stacey to the Cottage Hospital family and look forward to all the great work she’ll do in support of our nursing teams and patients!

Supporting Our Community Through the Cottage Hospital Little Food Pantry

The Little Food Pantry at Cottage Hospital has been a resource for local families in need for some time now — and with the ongoing government shutdown, more individuals and families are feeling the impact. That’s exactly why our pantry exists: to help ensure no one in our community goes without the essentials. 💙

Our staff makes monthly donations to keep the pantry stocked, and we welcome anyone in the community who would like to help. If you’d like to contribute, you can bring non-perishable food items to the Front Desk and let them know it’s for the Little Food Pantry. Every donation, big or small, makes a meaningful difference. 🧡

We’re so grateful for the generosity and kindness of our community — thank you for helping us support one another.
