Somewhere in our building right now a nurse is sitting with someone who is scared. Not because it is in the care plan. Because it is the right thing to do. That is skilled nursing. That is what it actually looks like behind the doors most people never see. It is presence and patience and genuine human connection offered freely to people our nurses just met and will never forget.
They show up for the hard moments and the tender ones. For the last days and the small victories. For the families who do not know what to do and the residents who just need someone to stay. This week we are reckoning with how rare that is. And how much it costs the people who give it.

They are The Power Behind It All. And they deserve so much more than a week.
