✨Exciting news from the Office of Governor Mike DeWine! Mobile Response Stabilization Services (MRSS) is now available for every county in Ohio!
💙The Counseling Center was honored to be chosen as the regional youth mobile crisis provider. TCC is the regional MRSS provider for Wayne, Holmes, Ashland and Richland counties!
🫶🏻What is MRSS?
MRSS is a no-cost crisis response program for youth ages 20 and under experiencing a behavioral health crisis or emotional distress.
❓How does MRSS work?
•Anyone can call 988 — youth, parent, teacher, coach, friend — and ask for MRSS for a youth.
•The caller defines their crisis, from a child refusing school to one experiencing suicidal thoughts to countless other scenarios. No concern is too small.
•Trained behavioral health professionals will come to the youth at home, school, or another safe space, often within an hour.
•The team calms the crisis, creates a safety plan, and can provide up to 42 days of service while connecting families with longer-term support.
🏘️How has MRSS helped our community?
•In Wayne and Holmes Counties, as of June 2025, 382 youth have been served.
•95% of the response locations were at the home or in the community.
•There has been a 52% decrease in youth emergency department visits.
•A 67% decrease in youth juvenile/adult jail admissions.
•An 11% decrease in youth school suspension/expulsions.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced that immediate in-person help for youth experiencing a behavioral health crisis is now operating statewide in all 88 counties. Prior to this expansion, the Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (MRSS) program was only available in 56 Ohio counties.
